Just noticed on GNE Facebook page and on simplyawful.com that the Coaster Saver will continue once the new Coaster arrives on Sunday but it'll still continue to only be valid between Gateshead and Whitley Baywatch

Bit confusing and misleading for customers?
Andreos1   29 Aug 2013, 11:39 am
I see GNE are also promoting the extra services they are putting on for the cricket at Chester - but have failed to state that the 71 or 78 won't be able to pass that section for a period and will be diverted (happened when the Ashes were on too)

Was out and about this morning and found 5264 being used for some publicity shots in Allerdene at about 10am. They got it into service pretty damn quick!

This new service 4 isn't a new service its what we know as the M1.
If you do a deeper search on Traffic area network you will discover that the M1 was cancelled from 13th June 2010 and a new service 4 was registered from then, not sure that the TC, GNE, Nexus ect realised that they had registered the service as a 4 not an M1. I've known about this for a couple of years and have pointed it out once to GNE with little interest in return, now its gone more public through this site it might get sorted. Either the person that registered the service and is doing the variations isn't paying attention to detail or the TCs are not. Hope its a TC error as its a canny fine if its not.

I've looked on VOSA, and all it shows is that there is a change from 20 October, nowhere does it say it was numbered 4 in 2010. Aren't there new buses due for this service soon?
busmanT   29 Aug 2013, 7:02 pm
(26 Aug 2013, 2:22 pm)Michael wrote Maybe not but it is pointless, whats gonna happen if they increase the 1 (for example) and they need a extra 3 buses.. are they gonna paint everything again so its in order?

Known GNE they would.. its stupid, just keep it the way they are.

Only 1 extra Coaster bus is required and its already been painted (5261), should be transferred from Stanley at the weekend

The removal of the Centurion branding from 5164/5166 is due to Nexus changing the type of vehicle needed on some of the scholars runs which are linked to the 17/307 from single deck to double deck, meaning 2 of the 17's will be double deck from next week - someone has already posted about 2 extra Trident moving to Percy Main

The Traffic Commissioners clearly knew it was numbered M1, as in N & P 2147 (19 April 2013) it appeared like this:

GO NORTHERN LTD T/A GO NORTH EAST, 117 QUEEN STREET
GATESHEAD NE8 2UA
PB0002400/419
Operating between Houton Le Spring the Broadway and Heworth Metro given service number M1 effective from 02-Jun-2013. To amend Timetable.

Mercedes Citaro x 11
Wright Streetlite x 16
Optare Versa x 14
Optare Solo SR x 12

Total - 53

Then you can all speculate as to what will be cascaded/withdrawn Tongue

As well as these 53, and the 34 Volvo B9/Gemini, there could be another 15 new buses early in 2014.............

With 87 new buses confirmed, and expected to be delivered between the end of September and the end of January, its going to be a busy few months for repaints, allocation changes and withdrawals.

Thought the Prince Bishops 20 was meant to be getting B9's also, adding on top of that rumoured buses coming up from London once the Borismasters have all been to delivered to Go-Ahead London.

Are you able to give us an idea of the scholars/works PVRs for the 2013/14 year?

It's very much an enthusiast circulated rumour rather than anything confirmed. Wink
I remember being told when the Cobalt Connect was launched that, providing GNE got the funding from Go-Ahead, the 20 was to receive B9s too.

Speculation never stops..! Big Grin

BusmanT do you work for Go North East or? Could the possible other 15 be solo SR's? So there'll be 27 solo SR's to replace MPD's. I'm struggling to think where else they could go, what's the PVR of the X30/X31/X70/X71?

The way it was put suggests it could be contract work. Of course a PVR of 12/13 would a major contract.
I'm assuming this isn't the National Express work as I'm under the impression that is more short notice than early 2014?

They're practically the same size and will provide a better quality of service. The current MPD routes (39 and M2/M3 aside) don't require a 'full-size' vehicle.

Your not searching properly..........

Was going to try and explain how registrations and N&P are put together, but better option is just take a back seat, this forum will die a death if people don't stop telling the insiders there wrong.

Even though the highways department have signs up stating the road is closed?

I wasn't in the area over the ashes weekend, so wasn't able to clarify whether they were diverted - but the road closure signs were up then too.
