Is there a reason why non of the withdrawn 03/53 plate MANs have been disposed of yet - some of which have been withdrawn for a year.

(07 Aug 2017, 3:56 pm)S830OFT I'm sure that the last time I checked 22012 was withdrawn, although it performed the 13:55 X47 service to Kingston Park from Eldon Square. Also the Kinetics don't seem to be out as much now, only seen 22514 on the 100.

(07 Aug 2017, 5:49 pm)Kuyoyo Scarp Value is at an all-time low at present - as most scrapyards are full.

(07 Aug 2017, 6:00 pm)AIG20 I assume bus dealers/resellers such as Ensign mustn't be offering much for them as well?
Maybe they could use parts from the ones in the worst condition to fix and refurb the others to up the value or possibly allow them to be transferred to another stagecoach division.

Surely they could have got rid of some of them though, even at the low price as opposed to having around 30 buses just sitting in storage waiting to be scrapped. They seemed to get rid of 22214/5 and 22673 quick enough though

(07 Aug 2017, 7:10 pm)Dan And you don't see Go North East holding off from selling their buses? Once they've been stripped of any parts required, they go!
Can't look great on Stagecoach's books?

Does the 118 share a board with the 39. I saw 19647 on both routes today.

(09 Aug 2017, 10:21 am)Cock Robin They weren't DDA were they. No reason why the newer ones should go for scrap if they are intact.

(09 Aug 2017, 4:16 pm)Dans_bus_photos They might be intact but since they haven't even sold 1 since they were withdrawn is making me think no one is interested in them. They cant just leave them standing around forever just because they don't want to scrap them

(09 Aug 2017, 5:08 pm)Kuyoyo Book Value comes into effect. With Scarp value at a low price at present, it's no good selling vehicles that have a value of £20k still for just £1k (or less). The likely reason why 22214/5/673 departed so soon is that they will have had little or no book value therefore they would actually have seen the company earn something for their sale.

(09 Aug 2017, 7:00 pm)Dan Poor planning by Stagecoach, then? If a batch of buses had such a high book value, the company should not have planned to replace them, especially if there was little chance of them being sold on for further use or transferred elsewhere within the group.
It won't be keeping the company's accountants happy either way - making a loss on a bus when selling it due to it having such a high book value, or a revenue-earning asset sat dormant in the corner of a depot depreciating.

Scania have put an article on their web site about the gas bus trial currently taking place with Stagecoach in Sunderland. Details in the link below:-
