That’s a daily diagram. There’s usually 2 or 3 deckers on the X47/77/78/79/82 services, including at least 1 MMC.

Yeah normally where Slatyford's E400MMC sole spare ends up if they haven't put it out on 30s/10/11. 3 deckers allocated to the express cycle.

I've often wondered but never paid enough attention to discover - are the deckers always on the same boards?  And are these ones which experience particularly heavy loads at peak times?  I'd have thought there would be high passenger numebrs on all the expresses at certain times of day so three deckers seems too few to have much of an impact overall for the epress cycle?  Or is there some other logic (other than Slatyford having 3 spare deckers) that influences this?

The board that includes the X79 is always a decker due to the sheer number of students who use it to get to and from Kirkley Hall!

Yeah think that one was always a decker, even before the interworking.  Not sure on the other boards though - planned or random?

Yeah the X79 is a fixed decker board, plus the X78 that diverts past Ponteland High School (0840/1533). No suggestion on the running boards for anything else fixed, unless allocated at Slaty's discretion as I would of thought there would be based on pax loadings.

28015 on X24 (0952 towards Sunderland). Tends to be the third out of the depot which gets the gas bus if they have an Omnilink off the road, but that board has 24003 today (thankfully!)

Driver was using X24A destination, bizarrely.

I'm doubtful the X24 will ever justify new buses, really.

My experiences of the X24 is always that 80% of the passengers are made up by concessions, and a fair proportion of the remaining passengers are made up of Network One pass use. Very few fare-paying passengers.

Reliability remains pitiful. I'm on 24003 at the moment - it went into limp mode and then cut out. Driver can't get it started. Now awaiting a vehicle changeover on Felling Bypass.

That's what happens when you buy 10 year old buses..... but you can say that for any bus, even if new/newish.

After a 25-minute wait, 28020 is the replacement vehicle. Had hoped for the reserve Dart!

I'm fairly sure I saw an E200 heading away from Fawcett Street on the X24 late this morning - not quite the Dart that you wanted, but certainly getting close!

To be fair id like to see some of the gas buses cascaded onto the X24, maybe if they could do a deal with Scania for 4/5 of the gas E400mmc's to operate on the 20 on either the same frequency or a slightly decreased frequency, releasing the current buses to the X24. It would also allow Sunderland to use the deckers for special events like the Airshow, Illuminations, Match days etc. But it would be nice to retain the leather seats from 24001-3 on 3 of the gas buses as they are a nice luxury for an express service.

when 24003 broke down the other day also on the Felling Bypass the next X34 bus stopped and tpicked up the waiting passengers. Even though it was not at a bus stop and was stuck at the traffic light junction.

Could hardly expect the passengers to get off 24003 and walk to a bus stop!
