Stagecoach North East: Latest News & Discussion - May 2018
(30 Apr 2018, 12:43 pm)RBZ 5459 wrote It won't be gaining one.

Seems bizarre in this day and age, when bus operators' back-office systems are so reliant on buses being allocated fleet numbers, that buses still manage to go without having one!

I wonder if they have one for internal purposes, even if not shown on the bus? For revenue analysis, for complaint procedures, for fuel usage analysis, for monitoring AVL data... In any vehicle trials, the latter two are obviously quite important.

I think that because it won't actually see the fuel line it hasn't been given one, tends to be one of the reasons to give it one. The allocation sheets just say 'electric' and the tickets say '1'. 001 is what was was initially thrown about when it arrived, and I've been digging as I was sure there would be an 800** number somewhere - but nope!

Wouldn't be the first time Stagecoach haven't allocated a number to a vehicle. I do recall photoing a Optare Solo SR on loan to Inverness which didn't recieve a fleetnumber.

I could smell it in my car, without any windows open, when I drove past the Stadium of Light this morning!

For anyone yet to see the roof of a repainted Newcastle E400 hybrid, here are 2 shots of 12077 showing how the normal livery on the sides merges into the green version on the roof

They did the roofs when going from stripes to swoops, and I think shortly after that new legislation must have came abouts stopping them from physically getting on the roof. I think they can get away with single-deckers but it's generally not done without great reason, e.g. the Omnilinks in X24 livery have had their roof done. New bus orders specify a white roof, as like Sunderland some depots aren't equipped to do roofs within H&S guidelines.

On another note, 22515 is seemingly heading back to Slatyford from Stockton soon, 22068 in exchange.

Why?! Surely 22514 will go as well then? Did anyone photograph either of them on their one (?- or part of one?) day in service at Stockton?!

Scrap that apparently not true! Chinese whispers.
In all honesty though, it doesn't sound like it's done more than it's first one or two days of service since it arrived so I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't been allocating them on the Stockton rotas. Certainly haven't seen any photos. 22513 at Walkergate hasn't been out for well over a week now, 22512 is ticking along though.

Alpha tow truck has just left the Sunderland depot, heading towards the road where the buses are diverting along behind the depot.

Seen this on the Stagecoach Facebook page:

Well, I'd like to say a big thank you to Stagecoach North East for my journey from hell today, I like nothing better than being body slammed into the front seat by your substandard buses. Does anybody actually do safety checks on these public service coaches? Can you imagine if a child was sitting in this seat! (No4 to Doxford Park about 4:20pm today)
