Disgrace. Get them to run off road like they do with cyclists.

Don't here anyone complaining when the Great North Run is on and there is multiple road closures in place.

Yorkshire Klondyke? Multiple road closures with buses diverted or held up.

With the Silverlink now almost complete, will Stagecoach run the 22 via it's normal route all of the time when it's next changed rather than running the afternoon journeys via Middle Engine Lane?

The current timetable is tied in with the ferry landing times with only a minute sitting time at Whitley Bay, and with a PVR of two there's not much wriggle room. Certainly going to be a challenge during the summer when the sea front is a bit busier. Believe North Tyneside Council and Nexus have some agreement with the Stagecoach too, especially for the ferry landing times.

It is nice though that the service accepts Explorer tickets though, had a ride on it on it's 1st trip (on 17240) on Saturday morning

They should convert 19641-6(19645/6 to transfer over from walkergate) to open top for special open top boards on the E1/2 (3 per route) with 19670-3 going to shields from walkergate for to replace 19641-44 the X34 (to keep double deckers on the X34) and 27723-6 going to walkergate in trade for 19670-3 and 27727/8 also going to walkergate in trade for 19645/6 with the E300s being allocated to 3 early return boards on the 12 and 3 18 boards

I think the group would have a coronary.

But breaking it down...  why swap like for like vehicles, for the sake of them being "local". Single deckers are also unsuitable for Walkergate, they've only got the ones they have because there's nothing else in the group of suitable book value.

Would they want modern deckers sat doing nothing for half the year?

Getting on for 10 years old now so more mid-life...Other areas do it, look at Kendal with brand new open toppers for the 599 most of which sit unused all winter when the PVR plummets.  The issue is probably more the lack of return on the Seasider - the City Sightseeing tours used to run around practically empty most of the time and the Seasiders were hardly packed on opening weekend (hopefully this will improve into the summer and once people realise they are running - I think Stagecoach missed a trick failing to do any sort of launch or publicity - would have been so easy to have had the spare decker parked up at The Links or along the route, handing out leaflets/promos - but nothing).  It would be great to see them revive the old 22 between Shields and Sunderland as well but again, the custom just isnt there I suspect, sadly.

Agree the 22 should be brought back. Tourism is there, it just needs to be boosted. If not the full route from Shields to Sunderland then at least Shields to Seaburn

There must surely be some potential in reintroducing a Seasider south of the Tyne, to coordinate with the new north of Tyne service and the ferry, including through tiketing.
RE: Stagecoach North East: Latest News & Discussion - April 2019
Seasider is a brand new idea, introduced with low cost given the vehicles were available from the CS service. I'm sure they'll sit down at the end of the summer and evaluate how it's gone and whether it's been worth running or not. If yes then great, if not then you've not lost much.

How do the X24 and x34 do in terms of passenger numbers on Bank Holidays?

I was at Heworth today on standby Metro Replacement 7 til 7.

Whilst the X34s seemed quite busy, all of the X24s had gas buses on giving a good view of passenger loadings. I think there was only one journey where it was about half full. The others were all sparsely loaded, not completely dead but probably not making any money either.

Mad that, considering how busy the 56 has been all day, a fair few going the full distance too on my 10:16pm out of Newcastle too.

Very good but that's probably because the one I was in was an hour late
