I heard that it was going to be a good month or so until the new buses were going to start arriving, so it seems to fit with the statement

I think what really stands out, is that Bamford already had dealings with Wrightbus prior to the problems this year.

I know covid 19 hasn't helped but you have to feel for Wrightbus employees for what they've been through over the past 18 months or so, I think they'll complete the current orders which are months behind now and then wind up the business.

If WrightBus couldn't complete GNE's orders for any reason, would GNE be insured to then either get their money back and perhaps order vehicles elsewhere?

Sure it was said before that they only pay them after they've been completed.

I'm still on the fence with the StreetDeck styling on a single decker, it looks like it's wearing a flat cap with the destination blind sticking out the front!

If they stick with the OM936 engine in it, probably slim to none.
If they put the OM934 engine in, and the price is good. I could see them ordering a fair few next time round.

3 speed Voith box seems strange, especially coupled with the OM936 engine. Would have thought that, since it seems to be designed for more heavy duty work, they'd have put a 6-speed ZF Ecolife in there.

Mind I'm not sure I get the excitement surrounding it. It's a heavy duty single deck which, according to operators, isn't required? Or have they realised that Streetlites and 4-cyl E200s aren't all they made them out to be?

3 speeds are still a thing?!

Assuming it's based on the same chassis as the StreetDeck, there should be no reason for it to not come with the same drivetrain options.

Do we actually know much about the underpinnings of it?

Bodywork is no different to that of the Wrightbus Volvo B8RLE's  which Lothian Buses have, just an alternate chassis option given the success they've had with orders on the Double Deck variant.

I'd imagine there are some minor changes between the two, kinda like how the B5 and StreetDecks are slightly different because of the different lengths

Are you sure about that? I haven't seen the inside of these new ones but the Lothian ones are just literally Eclipses with a new frontend.

They remind me of the Transbus Enviro 300 designwise though.

In terms of design I much prefer the Evora bodywork Lothian have on their new batch of B8s, the Lothian livery possibly helps given it is quite angular itself mind.

I think I just prefer what I'd call "proper" single decks, ones that looked like they'd be able to cope with anything. Stuff like the entire Wright Eclipse Urban/Solar/Pulsar line, the Renown, the ELC European, hell even the Temsa Avenue. The StreetLite and E200MMC to me always just looked like mini/midibuses which had been stretched - much like those X-GGO Darts ANE had a few years back.

Nice looking buses them tbf and agreed tbh. Wright try too much lately imo, the basic designs they had before was always nicer imo. Alexander Dennis aswell.

It's no-where near the ugliest single mind, not even Wright.

I actually prefer the First one (by that I mean the second image, of the First branded bus lol)

But, I think just changing the black panel on the front to match makes it look 10x better.

I had one of the Wright bodied B8RLEs with East Coast Buses a few month back and my god it was awful, never experienced rattling like it before making for an unpleasant ride, somehow made me glad to be on an E200MMC afterwards (Borders Buses 253). The MCV eVoRa doesn't seem as bad as the Wright bodies on the same chassis, have found the Volvo B5TL with EvoSeti double decker bodies better than the Gemini 3s like GNE have, same can't quite be said for looks but otherwise MCV seems better IMO.

The main issue with GNE's B5 Gemini 3s seems to be the access panels upstairs at the front and on the staircase. They make a hell of a rattle. A bit of door seal tape on them and they'll probably be fine!
