RE: Stagecoach North East: Upcoming Service Changes
What’s the reason for (temporarily)transferring 30/x20 to Sunderland again ? Is it cost savings?

(01 Jul 2021, 11:37 am)Chris 1 wrote Stagecoach estimates this will be in effect up until the end of the school summer holidays, with stagecoach tickets accepted on GNE services between Metrocentre and Newcastle. Eminently sensible.
If this arrangement works, I wouldn't be at all surprised if temporary turned into permanent.
(01 Jul 2021, 5:34 pm)stagecoachbusdepot wrote What a bizarre reason given for the suspension..."increasing driver shielding requirements" when gov.uk confirms "Shielding is currently paused. Although the advice to shield has ended, clinically extremely vulnerable people must continue to follow the rules that are in place for everyone."
(01 Jul 2021, 6:41 pm)Dan wrote The Track & Trace app is currently forcing a large number of bus drivers to self-isolate for a period of 7-10 days. This seems to have rapidly increased over the last week or so.
Arriva (who had the biggest staff shortage out of the three big operators) seemed to suffer with this first, but it’s now starting to have a real impact at Go North East and Stagecoach too.
Very sensible decision from Stagecoach.

There must not be very many people commencing a journey from Metrocentre as most will have either connected from a previous service or may have been work/shopping and obtained a lift. In this instance Amy intending passenger for SNE ticket purchase only I would suggest purchase from the next service 6 or 7 in the station. Yes its not good but it is only temp.
The situation is fine for travel from Newcastle to Metrocentre but not for the other direction of travel if GNE don't sell SNE tickets.
