Go North East: Major Service Changes July 2022
(07 Jul 2022, 6:01 pm)L469 YVK Like looking at the timetable, surely it would've made more sense for the X45/X71/X72 to interwork with the X30/X31 standalone?

(07 Jul 2022, 6:05 pm)Jimmi Weardale have the 725 according to Councillors Bev Coult & Arnie Simpson. Not too sure what this means for the existing 725 mind?
(07 Jul 2022, 6:13 pm)Dan Or all of them interwork, with little to no remote reliefs at Stanley, using all the E400s and none of the StreetDecks? Surely that would make more sense. So what's the pattern for that going to be if all of the Consett X-Lines services are going to interwork?

(07 Jul 2022, 7:43 pm)peter The X71/X72 timetable seems odd, as if it's been kept as it was but just with the X70 journeys removed. You've got a 20:40 split and a 40 minute layover on the X71. Surely the X71 could be retimed to leave Newcastle 10 minutes later and Consett 10 minutes earlier, that way you've only got a 20 minute wait and an even headway? But that will still leave Consett with only 1x low height spare covering a PVR of 8x (X30/X31/X45) unless 6336-37 are brought to Consett?
I get PVR of 5 for the X71/2 and 8 for the X30/31/45 so that would use all but one of the X-lines E400's

Only plan I can see for the StreetDecks is 6x for the 47 with 2x to Washington for the X1. Or....maybe something like the 58 as people have mentioned as that would still leave 1x left over for the X1.
Or despite movements, maybe GNE don't repaint any XLines vehicles for a while (maybe removing any route specific text) and see how the changes bed in?

(07 Jul 2022, 8:06 pm)Storx Personally I have a feeling all the Streetdeck's will leave Consett for fleet standardisation, there's no need for them there and the 47 is a secondary route when there's routes like the 58 which are usually flagship for fleet investment running around with ex London stock. The 58 is never busy tho, though it doesn't need practically brand new street decks, I think they're going on the X21 and have the current X21 branded in corporate and moved to Depots as Euro 6 spares
The two 64 plates would be better at Consett imo. Riverside obviously don't see much in them as they're never allocated to the X10 instead having the B9's on instead so having new Streetdecks there to go on instead would be an improvement if needed. Not to mention they would be together with the 21 and X21 batch when (and if) they eventually move there which very often have Omnidekka's on.

(07 Jul 2022, 8:45 pm)peter I'm surprised you've not mentioned the X21 for the Green Streetdecks given that there are 8 of them and the new X21 PVR is 8.
You could have:
6149-54 - 57 (+ 1 spare bus)
6308-14 - 58
6315-27 - 21 (I get a current PVR of 13)
6328-31 - 21/X21 spare
6332-33 - X1 spare
6334-35 - Riverside Spare
6336-37 - Consett Spare
6338-51 - X30/31/45/71/72
6352-55 - X10
6356-63 - X21
6364-77 - X1

(07 Jul 2022, 9:41 pm)Storx Does the 57 need deckers? I have a feeling they'll get either the Versa's from the Q3 or new electric buses (it's one of two pretty much).Only the E400MMC's can get under Dunston Bridge. B9TLs were never used on the X30 even in the ToonLink days.
The B9's would be good as spares for Consett for the 47 and others if needed since they can get under the bridge and maybe to run the peak X21/X58 and 327 which all need something. They can't be using Omnidekkas and the ex Lothian B9's like they do now.

Some full height deckers can, but it's very tight and involves going in the middle of the road.

I hold Weardale in high regard - I think they are a very good operator.
However, with the 725 it seems a bit poor from a passenger perspective for them to be operating it - yes ticket acceptance is being worked on, but I doubt you will be able to buy a Go North East ticket on a Weardale service - which is where I guess most passengers would start their journeys. So it's going to end up costing passengers a lot more unless they have a mobile ticket.
Of course, it could have been Rural Link or Scarlet Band - so a good outcome overall.
I wonder why GNE seem to be incapable of saying who will be operating the replacement services.
Surely that's very important information for passengers!
