RE: Go North East March 2023 changes
(07 Mar 2023, 6:09 pm)missedbus wrote It would compensate Percy Main for losing the 19 and 311, and will also take the pressure off Riverside which still struggles with cancellations at times.
That said, if the 25 and 28/29 move to Riverside, it'll be Washington that has the net reduction in work.
I can't see Percy Main closing, not with the new qualifying agreement and the timetable too.

Maybe if a successful bid to 'green' the 306/307/308/309, a joint depot facility with Arriva. Somewhere with centralised compounds for charging / gas in North Tyneside but GNE & Arriva having separate 'depots within a depot'. Then GNE could effectively move Percy Main there with Arriva also having a few non-EV operations stationed there too (for likes of the 50's, minibuses etc).

Why would Arriva want a depot in North Tyneside it's too close to Blyth and they don't need one there - it's Cramlington / Sandy Lane where it's more needed. It's just as awkward for the likes of the 55.

Arriva will have surplus space when the Northumberland Line opens next year as it will hit some routes hard in particular the X7, X8, X9, X10, X11 and X21. Don't underestimate how much damage it will do for bus numbers as it will as they're really pushing it rather than it being some side tracked thing like Horden station especially if it's included in Network One which has been mentioned in the past.

CLS for example can't sustain bus routes to the West of CLS where everyone uses the train instead and nor can most of North Tyneside because of the Metro.

Having another depot will likely make the whole area unsustainable.

I don't think the 10 E200s is enough for the 6/12

Is the 12 just temporarily at every 30 mins still?

Timetables for the 26th March changes online now. Most of which are already known, but the PDFs appear in drop down menus. 65 now branded as ‘Prince Bishops’, half hourly during the day Mon-Sat. Q3 is now every 20 minutes across whole route and looks like the clockwise/anti-clockwise route around Great Park is dropped. And the 41 cut from Howdon with the 1 replacing 97.

Glad the 65's going back to half hourly, but it does make the already terrible Sunday service on it look absolutely comical.

Yet another colour scheme for the 61 then! Since 2006 route branding it’s been Cream, Green, Purple, Silver, Red, Blue*, Violet and now soon to be cream/brown, gone full circle I suppose. Mind ‘Explorer’ suits it considering that long winded route around Murton…

I’m surprised the Explorer Streetlites haven’t stayed on the 65/20A pattern, surely there aren’t near enough Prince Bishops buses with the 65 included and the 20 now going to Langley Park? Haven’t some only fairly recently been repainted out of Prince Bishops livery? Wonder if some will get painted purple (or back into purple) or will it be filled with corporate branded Streetlites.

The gap might be filled with Double Deckers? It says on the service update the 65 is getting "bigger buses", the only bigger buses than full size Streetlites are double deck. Maybe they'll paint some of the Streetdecks in Prince Bishop livery?

There are still two Prince Bishops 5422/26  that were going to be repainted into corporate livery, they will probably just stay as Prince Bishops now

There's certainly two double-decks already allocated to the 20, so naturally these will be allocated to the 65 once the 20A/65 start interworking.

RE: Go North East March 2023 changes
wow these changes:
- Green Arrow coming to an end
- Coaster back to Metrocentre
- Prince Bishops 65
- East Durham Explorer 61/61A
- Violet coming to an end

Did not see some of those coming! Hoping that Green Arrow change potentially sets up the X66 gaining the MMC's! Navy Blue 200MMC's would look really nice

Why is the 41/41A still a thing. Can't they just withdraw the 41 & renumber the 41A to 41. There's absolutely no need for the 41

RE: Go North East March 2023 changes
What bvuses are going to go to Percy Main for the 1 extension or are they just going to use the deckers that have became free due to 309/310/311 POV reduction, but that probably won't be enough to cover it.

Unless partial vinyls or fleet livery, I think this is the end of branding for GNE.

Maybe with these and the 8x Rex Kite StreetDecks now 'surplus' (although maybe used in future to replace older vehicles) plus a raft of other changes, has COVID actually been the cause of this, or was COVID just the tip of the iceberg with these problems steming years back?

RE: Go North East March 2023 changes
Wonder whats happening to the E200s, aswell the 65 now has 15 mins at Seaham and 7 mins either way at Durham and between Stand E, Winter Gardens and Stand L has around 10 mins.

However on an evening it leaves at :45 which is too late for the X10 connection whcih many on here have complained about, its arrives off a short 20 to Durham which comes in at :29, and has 16 mins would it not be better to leave at :30 on the 65 then have a longer layover at Seaham or smth like that

I don't think there is a PVR 8 deckers which need replacing

One operates via Station Road, and the other operates via Hadrian Lodge - it’s not rocket science.

Wow a whole need for another route. I've used both and the 41 gets hardly anyone. 41A on the other had gets quite a few people
