One for Tony probably Ive noticed the 38 has been doing the old route through the Glebe estate in Norton when ive been passing Could it be drivers forgetting or has it reverted back to what it was

As far as I know there is no change to the 38. Norton duck pond - ring road - right at the lights then left into weaverham then as normal through the Glebe to Junction road. Hope this helps..

Thanks Ive seen at least 2 in the last few days that have been parked in the layby on The Glebe (the road) not the estate so unless they are doing 2 laps of Ashton Road they must be going up Junction Road

I believe from hearing from friends - they have been advised to go round the estate then go to the layby previously used as the terminus and have their layover there

Makes sense I have seen a lot of 38s parked in the stop at Norton Green all switched off It seems to run far to early now at times I think it would make more sense for the 37 to come through the Glebe and get rid of the 38 Maybe run the 37 every 20 minutes That would also free up a bus

Bit of a silly question - is there any specific reason the 'E' services go E1, E2 and then E6? And no E3, E4 etc?

Just curious. Smile

That wouldn't work. Both the 37 and 38 get the same time to run from the boro, the problem is the 37 goes further hence what would seem a lot of time for the 38. If you run a 37 through the glebe what about junction road? or you would put an extra 10 minutes on the journey if you go down junction road and do a loop around the glebe, then you have a problem of all those lovely pensioners with accute 20/20 vision getting on the bus to the hospital thinking its going to the town only they dont read the destination, they just see the number, some folk just see the bus....doh

It's a long-time survival of competition years ago between Busways and a firm called Catch-a-Bus, who were based at East Boldon. They mainly operated local services in South Shields but also had a route between South Shields and Sunderland, using route number 6. Busways' retaliation was numbered E6 to match the Catch-a-Bus number.
This would be in the 1989-1993 period if I remember correctly. There was also an E3 for a short time. If I can find the details of this route anywhere, I'll post them tomorrow.
Hope this helps,
Chris
