Maybe there are issues with that bus, rather than it being a lazy misallocation? As you say, it's a PVR of 1, so there's obviously no branded spare.

I would guess a venture solo is ideal size wise and considering 4847 could well be departing the fleet very soon perhaps these may be the regular runners if available.

Not really a response to your post Dan but you or Citaro might be the best to listen to my opinion.

Would it not be beneficial to try and secure a heritage vehicle to operate the 128, say on the first weekend of every month? Do Beamish have anything that is class 6 mot'ed to use? Would NEBPT get involved? 

At the moment if I was going to have a day at Beamish I would drive but if a heritage vehicle was used say on the first weekend of the month then I would use the 128, would others though?

Although I originally thought the omnicitys were destined for the loop. I think perhaps they are going to a other route. We don't know how many are been branded yet. Perhaps they are going to X30/31/70/71 under a new brand or even Fab57. If it's correct regarding EuroV on the loop it's not for there as these vehicles are EuroIV

But if they follow in the footsteps of other new vehicles entering service, it will probably be a Sunday (a week tomorrow at the earliest)

In principle, a cracking idea - but while a heritage vehicle may attract you, what about those who need a DDA vehicle?

It would be brilliant but the 128 is a normal passenger service so it has to follow some rules, one big thing that would not make this possible is the upcoming DDA deadlines with single deckers needing to be DDA by the end of this year and double deckers at the end of next year.

Also I'm not sure but I think it would be tricky getting preserved vehicles to operate a normal passenger service as it would need ticket machines for a start.

When I have been on a heritage vehicle, there is often a conductor who flits about taking fares and issuing a novelty ticket (like the ones issued at the time).

Technically, as it stands, they could stick an Olympian on (if it fits under the Beamish Arch).

An olympian has been allocated to service 128 so yes, they can fit under the beamish arch.

Yeah a Yellow Bus Volvo Olympian could be used, I think it must be able to fit under there as I'm sure there was one allocated on there last year.

I have been on Catch22Bus (or whatever they want to be called this week!) Routemaster's in Blackpool before and they have had conductors administering tickets to passengers but I imagine major operators like Go North East would not to do this as Key card holders would not be able to be use there cards on the service and there would be nothing to scan ENCTS passes either.

Beamish Museum has an "accessible bus", which looks like a heritage vehicle, but has a wheelchair ramp. I'm not sure what the DDA rules would be like with such a vehicle, and it would be at a cost, but it could be done?

5274 has a poster inside advertising that there are power sockets on the Fab56, Cobalt Clipper, Ten and another route. Is this really necessary?

What's wrong with promoting the power sockets on-board buses in the region?

Angel possibly, I think it is a good way to promote other Services on offer across the region to those like yourself who live in Northumberland/North Tyneside, who may not be aware of these features nor use the listed services on a regular basis, but would use them if they were going out for the day to say Durham on the 21 or on the 10 to Hexham for example.

When I saw the massive "Go!" poster, of which my first thoughts were that there were power sockets on the bus, until I realised that it was advert...
It's like Arriva advertising the Sunderland X21 on a Coast and Castles X18. Useless really.

I don't know how you can compare the two? Arriva's network wouldn't allow you to get from the X18 to the X21 without great difficulty.

5274 is a non-branded bus at Percy Main. So it's got a very good chance of being allocated to a service going to Newcastle.

Guess what? All the brands you mentioned from that poster start from Newcastle. Do you not think there's a very good chance that whoever is on 5274 (if on a Newcastle bound service), may be travelling onwards to somewhere else? They now have a selection of brands to look out for.

I've seen it and it merely advertises the brands which feature the provision of power sockets, with a large "Go!" logo.

That poster appears on some of Stanley's buses and no power socketed services operate out of there at the moment. Just advertising the feature to its customers. No problems with that?
