(17 Jul 2014, 7:25 pm)NEBCD Malarkey If true, I'd be surprised if Kingsley's could fit them in to be honest, depending on how many there is of course.

Do remember that Kingsleys have lost a lot of work recently, with buses allegedly turning up at Jim Hughes...

What contracts did they lose as don't recall reading anything, other than Gateshead Central Taxis gaining Contracts for Various Contracts.

No wonder I missed it as I was in Leeds at the time, Looks like Kingsley's will have pretty much nothing other than the 33/880 and 960

Re: RE: Stanley Travel - Adrian - 17 Jul 2014

(17 Jul 2014, 7:34 pm)Robert Apparently after hearing this, some of the drivers are objecting to this suggestion and are saying that they refuse to drive down to Birtley for what they get paid.
If they've won a lot of new work, then the last thing they need is a dispute with their workforce. I'd have thought they'd pay excess fares to cover employee disruption anyway, like most do.

Its a great opportunity for the company since they withdrew all their service work which would be giving them even more money than the private hires they just went down to. This obviously started to take effect hence why they started putting bids in for Scholars services and in most cases have been successful.

(17 Jul 2014, 7:21 pm)Robert *Dont take this post as a fact as at this stage it is just a rumour*

The rumour is that the new B7s will instead be based at the Kingsley's depot rather than Stanley Travels. It will be interesting to see if anybody else has heard of this rumour aswell.

We have a meeting at Kingsleys next week about storing all the deckers in their depot.

We have been running 7 service buses for a few years now, the latest contacts takes us up to 12 vehicles from Setember.

The services were never really withdrawn, Go Ahead purchased the Stanley Buses brand as it needed substantial investment to continue its development and At that time it was felt it would be better to develop the fledgling private hire and tour areas of the business.
We went back into service work after 3 years on a fully subsided basis as was always the plan. We inherited the 806/807 (now 706/707/708) from Hunters who could no longer operate it.

This latest shot at tenders was to replace r6 and r7's work that was ending today, we were just slightly more successful than we expected. .... Trust me it took a lot of discussion and calculations on if we should take all 7 workings we were offered, but in the end we went for it over the park and ride contact for DCC, which would have required a much larger investment in vehicles.

I would be surprised to see much of a dispute over depot location..... Only 2 of the current deckers are in Stanley now, and we will have to take on 5 additional drivers to cover the new contracts, and it will be made clear from the start that they may be required to be based outside of Stanley.
