Last few Ashington services retimed by five minutes, usually departs at 30 past.

Sorry to disappoint, Tommy, but no bus wars this time!
Pah, boring route anyway.
308 and 309 play funny games in between the Coast Road and Haymarket, an amusement to watch especially when sat on shitty leather crap.

Regarding the closure of Chester-le-Street Front Street, a letter we all received this morning in tutor regarding our scholars service, I have put below:
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Northumbrian Water have indicated that the Northbound closure of Front Street, Chester-le-Street, will take effect as of Monday, 16 March. This will affect all school buses in the morning as they will be entering the Church Chare site from the Cestria entrance and leaving along Roman Avenue and then onto the A167 to travel to our North Lodge site.
There are two consequences which need to be noted:
A) All school buses will run 5-10 minutes early each morning so students need to be at the stops in the villages and along the routes to school earlier than they are used to.
B) The school buses will only stop at our Church Chare site on their way to North Lodge, and not at all on the Front Street. Students travelling to North Lodge should, therefore, ensure they are at out Church Chare site 5-10 minutes earlier each morning to catch the scholars services.
I have not been informed how long this arrangement will be in place, but will contact you again when Northumbrian Water and Durham County Council are in a position to confirm. Thank you, as ever, for your support during this matter.
Please note, transport after school will operate as it does now*, but the explanation would be too long.
Yours faithfully,
(Headteacher's Name)
Not a service change exactly, but thought to share anyway.
* If anyone would like to know how the scholars services operate on an evening, please ask.
Just realised...with these closures, my local stop at Clifford Terrace will be unserved by any buses.
Looks like I'll have to walk into Chester-le-Street every morning I go out...
These works are beyond a joke!
Marcus, there is a shuttle bus in operation every 20mins from hermitage roundabout to cone terrace.

Thanks nk55, I just realised after posting, and after contacting GNE on Twitter, they confirmed the shuttle service was operating past my local stop. #dilemmaover
Thanks anyway.

Hopefully not!
The Yellow MPD's should go on the 238, and the AD122 should get Solos.

They might (although I doubt it) use a Venture solo SR

Good point. They mmight use 2 Nexus Solos and temporary replace them with Northern buses

I don't think its a mistake...the numbers after the 'J' are the stops that service serves on this map, the rest of the table can be found below:

Went for the Chester le Street free shuttle this morning and missed it as I was expecting a bus with a destination display showing free shuttle. After a long wait I realised that a Renault Van from Prestige Taxis of Washington had passed me that turned out to be the shuttle.
Not good for the OAP that had to manage the step in to the van with here shopping trolley also they are not following the timetable with the van sitting in Cone Terrace for longer than required.

Not surprised you missed it looking at that photo, I can barely see that free shuttle sign in the window pretty much hidden behind the tax disc. How are the elderly and disabled meant to get in that?
Should have gotten Scarlet Band or someone like that using a proper bus for this shuttle although that would cost more money to run.
The idea of northbound services not using Durham Road is daft; why can't they follow the southbound diversion route or use Durham Road then cut through to A167. It's an unnecessary inconvenience and waste of money paying for a pretty useless shuttle.
I suppose it's better than connect used to use pretty much a car on the 23
Update on my earlier post about the Chester le Street shuttle there has been an improvement this afternoon they now have a nice bright yellow and black sign in the window of the van that is clearly visible saying free shuttle. They are also now running to the correct timetable but I still think a low floor Solo or similar should have been used.
I agree with Greg in Weardale in saying that not using Durham Road is an unnecessary inconvenience. Having to get off the North bound 21 at Chester Moor and wait for a shuttle seems silly when the 21 could serve the stops on Durham Road then turn right into Ropery Lane using the first bus stop for passengers requiring the south end of the Front Street.
Apologies if this is in the wrong thread, but the past few days when I've spotted the Chester-le-Street shuttle, it's been a dark grey coloured minibus. Looked almost like a Nexus-branded vehicle at first. For reference tomorrow, what is actually being used on it (never caught the reg or noted the actual vehicle type - didn't appear to be the vehicle above by GuyParkRoyal), just so I know what to look out for?
Been busy during the daytime for the majority of this week, so I've not been able to dedicate much time to hunting it down.
