I'm pretty sure (although cannot remember when but think it was at Stockton) hasn't another one of these went up in flames before? Much prefer them to GNE's Volvo B10's though.

Good to see you back, Richard!

I always think bus fires just look hideous. Guessing 53 won't be repaired...?

I wouldnt think they would bother repairing it given the age of it and the amount left in the fleet- they might just send one of the MANs that has recently been withdrawn from Sunderland- if Walkergate are after an extra spare.

Ex Stagecoach North East 21147 R247KRG also went up in smoke a couple of months ago in Winchester, while working for Velvet bus company.

The Stockton example was 21151. The ironic is, the 3 examples all written off due to damage while with Stagecoach (Fire Damaged 21151/3 and accident damaged 21154) have all been based at Stockton depot, as was 21147.
So with this 21153 basically heading for the scrap yard does that mean only 1 B10BLE remains in reserve at Walkergate ?

21155, yeah.

Seem's to be heading on to the 13 alot, wonder if this is because the 13 is getting them May.
Quote from Stagecoach group news,

Minor Changes on Teesside from 30th March 2014

To summarise:

Early morning 537/565 are renumbered 37/58A (The Stagecoach-operated 565 journeys have been commercially operated for a number of years but retained the numbering to avoid confusion as the 0714 from Hardwick is until 29th March operated by Compass Royston on Saturdays).
The last 35 to Billingham runs 30 minutes earlier Monday to Saturday at 1712 (currently 1742). The 1742 will only run on weekdays and will now terminate at Crooksbarn.
The Sunday 558s are withdrawn after operation on the 23rd March without replacement

They won't be better than what they currently have so I'd be very surprised if any migrate to Chichester.
I would like see old mans alx 3oo to withdraw not to sand to over depots in stagecoach north east. All i would see are new buses for stagecoach north east fleet to all depots.

They don't have infinite amount of money to afford brand new buses for every depot. The better examples of the Sunderland-based non-DDA MANs will be moving round to replace the worse examples elsewhere (ie Stockton, but that will only be a temporary measure). The bulk of the non-DDA will be gone by the end of the year - I think they'll only been 17 remaining allocated examples plus any working in a reserve capacity at other depots (much like 21141/50/6 at Stockton and 21155 at Walkergate).
Have to say the floor is pretty high at back of the gas buses where the back seats are.

I agree. Much like the MAN E200s, I'm too tall to move to the back without having to duck. Fat arse seat all the way.

Haha some one already had fat ars seat when i got on the bus, only seats left was the back ones Sad
Have to add that the gas buses are still really clean inside, i know they havent being in service long but looks like they get a decent clean during the night.
Attached movements for Busways/Transit. Screenies are of Richard Smiles' Stagecoach fleetlist.

I have a free now, so will update NEB fleetlists...
NEB fleet lists updated.

In addition, 33488 has been withdrawn due to a broken chassis and 21153 has also been withdrawn following its earlier established engine bay fire.

Sunderland's fleet seems to be reduced by 2 according to this as theres 19 MANs listed as being withdrawn from Sunderland after the arrival of the 17 gas E300s, 22190,22196,22214,22215 are all still in service in Sunderland at present, all seen either today/yesterday

This is common of most bus operators. New vehicles should provide greater reliability and the spare vehicle allocation can be reduced as a result.

Just to clarify the situation. Stagecoach are still experiencing some Hiccups with the Gas refuelling Station, which in turn is causing one or two problems for the buses. Hence the MAN ALX 300s are still being used as back ups until ALL of the issues with the refuelling system have been resolved. This is a "Short Term" measure. Its no good moving the buses now to other Depots or the Scrap man & then find themselves short.
22214 now working for Slatyford, seen in Newcastle on services 10/11 today. I'm told 22453 has turned up at Stockton too.
