Direct Rail Services (DRS) set to carry passengers to alleviate network burden.

Quite ironic, that the DfT are funding this, paying Northern to hire in a publically owned operator.

They're already contracted to run stuff for Greater Anglia too.

Another irony is, that the train manufacturing sites, which built the stock DRS are using, were all closed off following privatisation and the end of BR.
Imagine the benefits those train manufacturers could bring to the UK?

So the taxpayer pays for the removal of the track and infrastructure, covers the cost of the tarmac and the private sector (once 'liberalised'), reaps the benefits and profits?

Didn't eezypeazy come out with an idea like this once?

I suggested that I would have been in favour of the conversion of the Tyne and Metro system into a dedicated busway. The aged stock on the Tyne and Wear Metro network has seemingly proven unreliable as of late - if newer stock could be deployed on a new busway with new technology such as free Wi-Fi and power sockets, I think it would work a treat.

Done in the Norway in a Nutshell, which is recommended.
97301 in Heaton TMD as I passed earlier on.
No long how long it's gonna be there though.

It hasn't moved (or looked like it has moved), but there is an old school diesel loco parked up in sidings between Stockton and Thornaby for a bit now.
Keep missing id.

Anyone have any ideas?

Apparently it left Stockton yesterday around 1300 on a scrap train to Derby
The Royal train is going north today it arrives at Newcastle at around 1 and will wait 20 minutes it will also wait 30 minutes at Morpeth its on Real Time Trains as 168K

I think this is a charter, the stock is Chocolate and Cream w sleepers on rear loco reported as 68008

Do you know what was on the front?
68008 was the locomotive, it missed out North Morpeth loop making it 32E.

Yesterday that wasn't the Royal Train.
There is never any paths on Realtime Trains for it due to it being a sensitive move. However it does show on the Realtime Maps you can get access to (such as Railcam).

That charter today was the Noah's Arc from Glasgow to Crewe, a charity charter formed from a GBRf staff charter yesterday.

Why does moves like the Royal Train not get shown on websites such as RTT etc? Does it not show up at all, even as a STP or VSTP?

I hadn't realised that they weren't, until Sean had said, but it does make sense. Putting Royal movements on an open data service would breach about every security rule in the book.

I think I've got more chance of getting Michelle Keegan round my place tonight, than you have of seeing that £100.
