Not too sure to be honest, I always thought the bus shelters were built and maintained by Clearchannel in return for them gaining the advertising revenue but I could be very wrong there.

Be interesting to see if Sunderland is impacted mind as I believe the Bee Bus stops are the same design. I'm not aware of any of them in Gateshead, North Tyneside or South Tyneside though.

Incident in Middlesbrough earlier this month.
That bus stop took a bit more effort to demolish.
Drunk Driver crashed into a 35 at Low Moorlsey looking on Bus times it seems to be 5422
Bit of an incident currently on Newgate Street in Bishop involving an Arriva bus.

Looking at the traffic camera it looks rather serious. They've got the view completely blocked from the roundabout so you can't see anything

The chronic just saying it’s a serious crash and one person has been taken to hospital. Long article but vague. Also a comment about respecting people’s privacy and not taking photos or speculating, which is unusual.

3963 went into the back of a car at the junction before you get on the Redheugh Bridge.

It was sounding pretty loud, the other day. It can’t be long for this world.

Oh gosh. The current bus stop arrangements are awful and just so dangerous.

Even before the temporary bus stop arrangements came into place, it was a bit of a black spot.

Tbh, I'm surprised there aren't more people killed in Durham, by the university in particular. International students from a particular region have absolutely zero road sense and just walk out in front of traffic without even looking.

My mother nearly took one out yesterday, and I've been on several buses that have had to slam on due to them walking out.

Same in Newcastle, everyone just walks everywhere. Im surprised more people aren't killed or serious hurt on a regular basis
Plus with the new electric buses, you can't hear them.

that zebra crossing on blacket streets the place ive seen most nearly incidents.... drivers waiting for ages with people crossing constantly and then trying to get through just before someone else steps onto it

It's not normally vehicles I see nearly causing collisions there, generally it's Uber Eats or Deliveroo cyclists not stopping at Zebras despite people being on them already. Cyclists in general show little care for pedestrians in the city centre these days. The area around Civic Centre is dangerous too.

Agreed, and this is coming from a cyclist. I love riding my bike on the road and I always follow road rules and always let buses past me (I always pull in and stop on the path too so they can pass without having to swerve around me or wait behind me for the traffic in the opposite direction to clear), but I do see cyclists absolutley ruining the reputation for cyclists who actually ride properly.

I can re-call many times where I've been on my bike waiting at a red light and see some absolute muppet in a Deliveroo outfit flying past me and either nearly hitting a car or pedestrians crossing. Especially in Newcastle City Centre. Or that one time I was behind another cyclist going in the same direction, and the cycle bridge over Central Motorway was closed and there was signs pointing to diversionary routes. I obviously followed the signs, but the entitled granny riding in front of me moved all the signs and pushed through the barriers through the closure to get through.

Not all cyclists are stupid people. But all stupid people tend to be cyclists.

Dont disagree  but seen some bus and taxi drivers go though the crossing when really they should have waited as people were still about to cross.

Those bikes can do some speed -  probably should need some kind of bike licence to ride them TBH
Not sure what happened but GCT's 0322 is currently in the side of a car in Burradon at the Weetslade Road junction.

I used to drive buses along there every day and it's the only zebra crossing where you do have to move as soon as its clear, even if people intend to cross, otherwise you'd be sat for 10-15 minutes.

The crossing should be replaced with traffic lights in my opinion.
