What if 1 company got 2 contracts?
Such as Arriva got Lot 1 and 2
Stagecoach got Lot 3
And GNE only got NEXUS contracts and School Buses?
It might happen!
Karma? :p
2005 was the last time SNE Sunderland made any major changes to the network. I wonder if any are planned once the new fleet of buses are all in operation. There must be room for some improvements.

I would join the Operations of South Shields and Wheatsheaf, and combine a few of there Services, to then provide more Competition to Go North East, otherwise I don't how Stagecoach could possibly improve there Network
What were the changes in 2005?!
I believe the changes were Service 2 merged into service 3; Service 15 merged into 16; old service 12 (linked with service 13) ended; Service 24 merged into 23, thus ending the Monday to Saturday service to Seaburn Camp. Maybe service 6 was scrapped then but I could be wrong .

Not sure but i think the 6 was scrapped due to low passengers because of the works on the Queen Alexandra Bridge which resulted it being withdrawn.
The timetable is in the bygone era for the changes effected by it's closure

The last lot of comprehensive changes on Newcastle were in 2003. Stagecoach just don't go in for redesigning profitable networks. Certainly not in the North East anyway!

REally? Thought those changes were before that.
Thanks
Looking in the bygone era section , there doesn't seem to be any post 2004 information relating to service changes which makes me even more sure that it was 2005 . I would like SNE to make a few enhancements in Sunderland but nothing on the scale of Go north east who don't seem to know what they are doing .

The level of investment they're putting into their business would contradict that statement in its entirety.

Service 1 was a Sunday Summer service. started off as Economic bus and sunderland busways open top buses did service 22 from Shields to Sunderland then after a couple of seasons later Shields depot only did the section between Shields and Whitburn/Seaburn and the wheatsheaf depot did Sunderland and Seaburn only as a number 1 service, didn't last long though.
service 32 was originally a joint service with service 31 with GNE, then later in life became just a service 31, then GNE left the service to Busways.
Service 36, well there was a yearly Sunday summer service from Hylton Castle/Town End Farm to Seaburn via Red House and Downhill, originally it was runned as service 26, and since a new service 26 started up between Sunderland and Seaburn Camp right in front of Catch A Bus number 6, then the summer service from North Estates to Seaburn became service 36.

I thought their might of been an old timetable for service 31/32 in the bygone era under Go Ahead Northern or Sunderland Busways, I keep alook out for the timetable as it might be in one of the old bus guides that the TWPTE produced S1/S2 etc...., give me a couple of days and I find it and scan the timetable and stick it on this thread.
the 31/32 were always minibus operation, Sunderland to Doxford Park Moorside via mostly the 31 route with minor alteration along the route for service 32.
I haven't got a timetable, but the route of the 31/32 can be seen on this June 1989 Tyne & Wear PTE map. I've scanned in the Sunderland area for you take a look at.

Thanks for scanning the map AdamY
Ive found the faretable for the 31/32 and scanned it, but somehow I cant put it on the site from my laptop as it asks for a URL link.

Very surprised there hasn't been a Monkwearmiuth - Park Lane - Wembley suggestion made yet

Monkwearmuith? Is that Pitmatic for Monkwearmouth?

On a ten min frequency?
I'm glad to see the Monkwearmyuth - Wembley service suggestion appearing in the Stagecoach thread where, if adopted, it would retain some sense of stability. If GNE were to run the service, it would probably change two or three times between now and cup final. (Boom Boom)

Perhaps Megabus (a Stagecoach company) could provide this service?
I often wonder is stagecoach would operate any stagecoach gold services in the North East, when you see the growth of sapphire services by ARRIVA, (and the ''gold'' services by GNE) its a little disappointing to see alx300's on busy services across the region. Not only that, but only Newcastle and Sunderland are the only places with different looking buses (Newcastle with 100's and hybrids, Sunderland with gas buses). Thats why the gold service would make some sense, definatley in Newcastle on services like the 1 or even an upgrade to the X47 or 100. Either way, Stagecoach for me fall to the bottom in the top 3 of bus quality - just my thought.
Most of Sunderland Stagecoach routes are "gold" in my opinion, in the sense that they are regular services, operating on a clear and concise timetable. That is what counts rather than fancy branding
