If the compass 8x is up for tender id hate to see a operator alike kingsleys or go north east as the volkswagen struggles in some streets upon south hylton.

Same for Stagecoach, however i would like to see them run it due to them running the 8 during the day.

Ye, i was thinking of another service too but now i can't think haha

Theyd have to get solos from Cumbria to run that service
Was the 33/33A up for tender separately last time? Continually surprised this is renewed , it carries thin air 99% of the time.

Guessing it's politics of the well heeled variety keeping this one going

Gerra way man, they have been a roaring success story.

Look at how many of the services which were supported by Nexus, that are now commercially viable services.

The list just keeps on growing Wink

Very, very good, the 13 is certainly a challenging route due to the tiny roads it goes down, I assume the three buses freed up by the loss of Whitley Bay will go for the 13 and 168, while two Versa size buses will be needed for the 33

The contract for the Sunderland Connect 700/701 services is up for renewal this year.

Sunderland City Council will provide 3 low-carbon hybrid vehicles in a dedicated livery to operate this contract. The use of these vehicles will be subject to a separate agreement between the successful contractor and Sunderland City Council.

The details of vehicles to be provided are as follows:-
  • Optare Solo SR Hybrid – NK61 EFY (Capacity 49)
  • Optare Solo SR Hybrid – NK61 EGY (Capacity 49)
  • Optare Solo SR Hybrid – NK62 DWY (Capacity 48)

It should be noted that it is extremely likely that these vehicles will need to be re-painted during the term of this contract.

The contract will require the successful bidder to operate a term-time timetable (17th September 2016 until 7th July 2017) and a separate summer timetable (8th July 2017 to 2nd September 2017).

I take it the current contract expires at the end of this Summer's season then?

GNE got it from the 4th September 2016 according to VOSA.....so it looks like it will last for 13 days before a new operator takes over, if GNE don't get it.

Yes - from 4th September to 16th September 2016.

That amendment is for the service to return to its term time route (Clanny House - St Peters).

I wish they would extend the summer service down to Seaburn.
