There is a happy medium between dawdling and almost tipping a bus over though  Big Grin

The hybrid Sunderland Connect Solos used to lean regardless of speed.

I'm not saying a driver wasn't paying attention, but a driver had to do a full on emergency stop to not go into the back of a row of cars.

I agree, I wonder if anything has been said to the drivers on X45, as none of them seem to go very fast between Shotley Bridge & Salwell anymore.

Some of the road along there is a bit iffy like, especially once you get near Rowlands Gill. Even as someone who lived traveled along there for 15 years, you sometimes forget how tight the corners are.

Although I don't condone stupid driving, you'd be surprised how much speed you can carry along there with good tyres and all wheel drive in quick German estate!

One thing I've noticed when in Newcastle is how small Stagecoach mirrors are compared to GNE & Arriva, that's got to have an impact on driving. Any drivers have any opinions on this issue

The drivers were excellent yesterday on the buses I was on, even tho it was really windy on the Redheugh bridge the drivers stayed inbetween both lanes to make sure they had plenty of space as the windy was pushing the bus sideways.

On the E200/E400 you can really feel the wind pushing against the glass.

Straddling both lanes or staying in between the lines? If it's not safe enough to stay in lane then high sided vehicles should not be going over it.

I went over it three times yesterday, 1 stradded and 2 stayed (or tried) to stay in the line tho I think it may have slightly went over a few times, thankfully their was no traffic.

I do it both over the Tyne and Wearmouth bridges too. Should no buses be going over them either in windy conditions? The only reason the Redheugh closes to high sided vehicles is due to the proximity of the edge of the bridge to the running lanes, it is completely legal to straddle lanes on a windy bridge.

I have to say when I was on the Metro Replacement buses recently I thought one of the driver’s driving standard was really poor.

More of a nitpick but can someone at GNE please tell the agency drivers on the X/900 that you're meant to blow the horn before reversing and give way to reversing vehicles (one cut across my bay as I was reversing the other day although tbf that's the only time I've seen that happen)

I sent a complaint in when one cut me up three times between the Tyne tunnel and Jarrow bus station. It then went through a red light.

Got a generic sorry and heard nothing else back despite a promise.

Wistfully stuck in the 90s

Witnessed absolutely fantastic driving from Arriva this evening.

Arriva 7 to Durham went flying across the roundabout on the A167 - South Road (road was clear no not a big issue), then went straight through a red light at the duke of wellington. They had plenty of time to slow down, the light was red for a good 5 seconds before they went through it.
Didn't even start to brake until it was red.

On the 97 the other day, the driver hit more curbs than stopped at stops. I know it's a tight route at certain places but honestly, I don't think anyone could hit as many curbs as that driver did, even if they were aiming for them.

Not necessarily the same, but I was on a coach trip to York Market yesterday through Caledonian (not recommended, it's shite), and was ran by Procters.
The driving standards of the coach driver was absolutely appalling, constantly up people's arses and swerving around people on the A19, pulled out in front of someone at a roundabout causing them to slam on, and just generally braking late and hard.
There were several points on the way back where it genuinely felt dangerous!

Well I saw something I thought I'd never see. A GNE 10B doing a 360 degree turn on a round about.... abvoiusly to avoid the traffic in the lane he should have used to go straight on. To top it off he slowed right down to let a fellow hus driver out who was in the right lane and almost cause a 3 car pile up behind him. Might even have it on my dash cam
