(18 Jun 2018, 9:06 pm)S813 FVK I couldn't.

The coach depot is at Hull (shares with the main Hull service fleet I believe, much like Chester-le-Street up here) and would be totally impractical for the GNE National Express operations to move down there.

Ah right, i thought it was closer to home... can tell i know nothing about the company.

My prediction if EYMS is rebranded:

Wasn’t EYMS used to be United and became separate?, the same as when Northumbria started as that was United originally.

It was in Scarborough if I remember right. Don't think United ever got as far as Hull ops.

What is now Scarborough and District was part of United until deregulation, upon which point it was transferred to East Yorkshire along with the now closed Pickering depot. The old United Depot in Scarborough is now a multi-story car park of which all the Town Services pass at some point in their journey.

I think it states that the livery or something won’t be touch of something like that, brings back memory when stagecoach bought busways and the livery was going to stay the same , but that didn’t last long until the stripes were put on the fleet.

The whole lot is staying the same. The livery, the names etc. To the naked eye nothing has changed.

Pleased about this acquisition. Will need to have myself a day in the Hull area in the coming months to get a better experience of their network.

Aye. Was definitely East Yorkshire around Hull in the late 80s. Our village was served by them and by Connor and Graham.

And on that note, I've found this nice bit of potted history.

Nice link that.

It's opened up another query though.
Which small operator in the NE got the two VR's?

Quote:Even then these EYMS buses did not all go to the scrap yard, as both 517 and 995 were bought by a small operator in the north-east for further service. 517 is now preserved and was at EYMS’s 80th anniversary celebration at the Hull Streetlife Museum of Transport.

Continental got 517, too. Unlike 995, it is not living out its retirement as a seaside café.

(19 Jun 2018, 2:51 pm)S813 FVK The whole lot is staying the same. The livery, the names etc. To the naked eye nothing has changed.

I think it's inevitable there will be changes in the future, not just with liveries and 'names', but routes and depots.
Virgins deal with CYBG included a lot of clauses, some of which are in the public domain and place time constraints on use of buildings, staff redundancies etc.
Stanley agreed certain things when they were bought out too. Hence the lack of competing services for a number of years.

Being honest, I think we will see depot closures, route consolidation, fleet disposals, staff reductions and deals with other operators. Scarbrough operated by Transdev maybe?
I will predict this all happening in 3-5 years time, depending on the terms agreed in the contract.
