From 6 January 2019, there will be some minor amendments to services 42/42A due to the upcoming roadworks around Benton Asda.
During Monday-Saturday daytimes, the service will no longer run to Wallsend Metro. There will be minor changes to the timetable to allow for the revised route, and to improve reliability.

Posting in here to keep it appropriate. Nothing officially confirmed by GNE but another driver said that the 309 / 310 will become standalone in March. Not only that, the evening 57s will be curtailed in Newcastle with the 310 being re-routed via Hadrian Park presumably meaning most of the evening short journeys between North Shields and Cobalt South being axed.

Makes sense because the 57 is normally pretty empty in the evenings when I’ve used it

I agree with sending it through Hadrian Park on evenings and Sundays but for Monday to Saturday daytimes, missing Hadrian Park actually proves quite popular and has done so since 2008 when the 315/316 was scrapped in favour of the 58 (Hadrian Park) and 75/76. However, I think it would eventually make sense to streamline the Coast Road services  and just have 2x services running between Battle Hill and Newcastle rather than 3.

If the 310 was to be re-routed all the time through Hadrian Park, the following changes would need to be made:
- Monday to Saturday daytime Coaster curtailed at Gateshead (PVR 13 with extra recovery time)
- Monday to Saturday daytime 11 extended to Wrekenton instead of Metrocentre (PVR unchanged at 8)
- 96 re-introduced on a 20 minute frequency interworking with the 57  (PVR 10 combined with the 57).
*****Evening 57 interworks with 58 (PVR 6)*****
- 310 PVR increased by 1x vehicle (PVR 8)

Current PVR for 1/11/57/309/310 = 46
New PVR for 1/11/57/96/309/310 = 49 (or 48 if Coaster PVR remained at 13)

Although in theory it would make sense to re-route the 310 through Hadrian Park, the PVR of the above services combined would increase by 2 or 3 vehicles.

I wonder whether or not the evening frequency would remain as it is now for the 309 & 310 or with the Coast Road services being streamlined, maybe a frequency increase of every 15 minutes (30 on each route) could be on the cards. Worked it out that if the evening 57 is interworked with the 58, the total combined PVR for the 57/58/309/310 with a frequency increase on the 309/310 would stand at 11 vehicles only meaning an increase of 2x. The timings would be something like the following with the 309 still being compliant for shift times at the Cobalt:

North Shields Dep (310): 19:30 & 20:00
Newcastle Arr (310): 20:18 & 20:48
Newcastle Dep (309): 20:23 & 20:53
Blyth Arr (309): 21:21 & 21:51
Blyth Dep (309): 21:30 & 22:00 (arriving at Cobalt P&G for 22:07 & 22:37, extra running time added in too)
Newcastle Arr (309): 22:33 & 23:03
Newcastle Dep (310): 22:38 & 23:08
North Shields Arr (310): 23:25 & 00:05

Thought this was the most appropriate place to put this given that changes will most likely happen as a result - operations of ToonLink 6 & X31 are moving to Riverside soon, taking the B9s with them. On Sundays the 6 is to interwork with the 12/12A I believe.

Is it not taking the Omnicities to the riverside?, seen as though the current B9 pvr for 6/X31 is only 1 and the X70/X71 pvr is 5.

Isn't the limit 180 for Riverside, according to the fleet allocation, its currently at 179, so when routes do move over, others would have to move out.

Wonder if Go North East will ask to expand the limit at Saltmeadows?
