The only reason I can see GNE ordering another vehicle would be to cover the Castles Express PVR increase. There would be 2x options as a result for the TVT (E400MMC more likely for Red Arrows)

Option 1:
- 16x Volvo B5TL to Riverside / Hexham for TVT. This would also include 3x additional spares on top to cover the TVT + TTX.

- 6084 transferred to Crook to make up additional PVR on Castles Express.

Option 2:
- 16x StreetDecks to Riverside / Hexham for TVT. This would also include 2x additional spares on top to cover TVT. 6084 remains at Riverside as TTX spare.

- 1x StreetDeck to Chester Le Street / Crook to make up additional PVR on Castles Express.

Personally I'd like to say E400MMC's for X1/X1A sending the B9s to Riverside for the 93/94 & Streetdecks for 45/46/47 sending the streetlites to Deptford for the 35/35A & 6118-6121 to Percy Main.

I think this is the way they'll go, putting Streetlites on the 35 route, could end up attracting more people to use it.

Least they'll be no more mixed allocation (Scania/Versa), and from 19th May, (Streetlite and Scania).

DFDS getting a much needed upgrade I would say if only 4 E400's on order.

Otherwise Red Kite replacing the Streetlites/B9's with E200/E400's.

Full 93/94s aren't allowed double deckers due to a weight limited bridge.

Odd considering Gateshead Central Taxis use it everyday for their deckers, and the current vehicles on the service are over 7.5 tonnes. Plus I've seen double deckers do full loops of the 93/94 for years, and that restriction on Stoneygate Bridge has been in place for god knows for how many years. Even when the 55 ran that saw deckers used from time to time.

However I suspected this might be the bridge, so I did a little research and according to Gateshead Council Traffic Regulations regarding weight restrictions.

43. Save as provided in Article 38, 42 and 44 of this Order no person shall cause any heavy commercial vehicle of over 3 tons unladen weight to proceed in the lengths of road specified in Schedule 15 to this Order.

44. Nothing in Article 43 of this Order shall apply to any stage carriage, scheduled express carriage, school bus or works bus.

The Spice Girls arrive at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light on Thursday 6 June and getting there couldn't be easier with us.

Special X56 service running non-stop between Newcastle Central Station and the Stadium of Light.
Frequent services from across the region to the Stadium of Light and extra buses after the concert to get you home.
