Most likely it was something in relation to the Cummins plant in Darlington, especially if there was extra exhaust systems attached.
I saw an EnsignBus BCI double decker being driven around Darlington by them on Tuesday morning.

(29 Nov 2020, 12:12 am)James101 Surprisingly, the earliest of these are already being sold on by Blackpool as they intend to have a fleet age of below 5 years. Could be on its way to a new owner.Unlikely they only sold 2 (301/302). I believe that these were built to a different standard or were dealer stock hence why they got rid even thought they look to have a similar interior. There was a fleet replacement plan to renew every 5 years the whole fleet and were keeping older deckers to get every bit usage and value out of them. However covid has most likely changed only renewal plans.
