Others are gonna end up massively disappointed!

As lovely and warm those rear seats can be, they're not gonna be a patch on bucket/sport style seats which are heated, recline and have additional lumbar support!

Can remember getting on a Solo for the first time one Sunday afternoon. I'd just finished a shift and they were covering on the 194. It may have been one of the Sxxx KNL batch.

Saw a lad I knew walking alongside the road. Turned to wave/acknowledge him through the rear window (well before mobile phones became all the rage) and encountered a carpeted wall.

I genuinely find the seats on the Angel more comfortable than our car. I've sat on them for well over 2 hours continuously without any aches, and spent over 6 hours on one of them over a whole day

The colour matching on that vinyl is awful. I recall this was a problem originally too, prior to the 'standing passengers' vinyl being applied?

The awful colour matching goes well with the awful paint job! They could have at least used a bit of masking tape along the sealant line!
Plus, the fact that the dark green 'swoop' doesn't line up makes it even worse!

At least the vinyl is pretty easy to change

Never sat on the rear facing seats downstairs then?

As a rule, I try to never sit downstairs, and never at the back! It's far too loud!

Plus, the rear windows are always too high to actually look out of so all you can see is sky unless you're standing up!

Thanks for the summary

I wonder which service the Red Kite streetlites will go on then at Sunderland, there's only 10 of them.

55 from Citaro to Streetlites, then the Citaro's on the 35.

So would be:

8 Citaro's on the 35

8 Streetlites on the 55

2 spare Streetlites will replace 2 of 5481-5487

----

Or:

10 Red Kite Streetlites to the 55 + 1 from Deptford (All GNE)

8 Citaro's to the 35

3 spare Citaro's

---------

Can't see the likes of the 2/2A/39 (already Streetlite) 38/238 or the X-lines X6/X7/X20 upgraded.

20/60/56 - confirmed - No upgrades (just the rebrand of the 56 and the 60 maybe in the future)
Ooo Friend, Bus Friend.

Ah okay I didn’t realise you didn’t sit there. Keep them covered over then.

The back windows are at head height for those sat facing them - if only they could see through them.

Not on the StreetDeck they're not. It's slightly higher than eye level, and set back by quite a bit, and also quite narrow, so even if they were completely open, you'd see nothing but sky and maybe the top of a van.

E400MMC rear window I believe is slightly lower, but not by much, and not set back as far, but still in the same boat.

Sure, if left uncovered they'd let a bit more natural light in, but they certainly won't give you a nice view!

Maybe the Streetlites from the 53/54 would be a good shout for X6/X7/X20?
Or have they been confirmed as going elsewhere?

Nicer seeing something - anything - rather than a dark green wall with GNE logo on.

There's a side window or my phone. If the rear window is transparent, I see sky through it.

Percy Main would be a good place for those Streetlites imo. Either replace 698 - 705 directly and have them on the 11 and 19 with 4 deckers from somewhere to replace the last 4 omnicities or alternatively 4 to replace the last 4 omnicities then put 4 on the 19 or 11 and get 4 solos from somewhere - maybe Hexham (sure it was mentioned they're getting investment on there minibuses) to replace the other 4.

Horrid non standard buses the old solos with rock hard seats. Plus the 19 has had numerous trials in the past few years and isn't part of the Little Coasters which suggests long term they have other ideas with it.

6332 is sounding a bit iffy again, idle seems to be a lot more rattly than usual.

And just in case anyone wasn't fed up with me bringing up NSA, it seems to be stuck on the southbound journey, announcing 'This is X21 to Bishop Auckland' even on the northbound journey and not announcing any stops. It's a welcome bit of silence!

I was on the x21 for the first time since the changes last night, and noticed that the NSA doesn't match up with the stopping arrangements shown on the timetable. The timetable says it's limited stop in Chester le Street, but the NSA mentioned all stops on Front Street, and stopped at the Lambton Arms, which the timetable claims it doesn't stop at.

The Next Stop Announcements are correct.

I was told by customer services that it would stop at every stop, but also only stop at the ones the X21 used to stop at.
Very confusing

What I’ve read it as, the X21 stops at every bus stop along its route, same as the X20.

The timetable specifically says "You can get on or off at any bus stop along the solid section of route, except in Chester-le-Street."
Then shows a map of the stops in Chester-le-street saying "you can only get on & off at these stops" implying that the other stops you can't use

GNE probably just nit picking, just in case a passenger wants to board the bus to bishop auckland but the Passenger might stand at the wrong bus stop ie bus stop for the 78 to Houghton or waiting for the x21 to Newcastle and standing at the Washington bus stop

This just hasn't been updated.

The brand new timetable that was only released this week?

At this point, I don't see why they'd limit the stops in Chester-le-Street. Might as well just make it a full stopping service from the point it leaves the A1

Yes. I understand it's on the list to be fixed.

The X21 effectively directly replaced the 21 between Chester-le-Street and Durham, so it stops at all stops between the Red Lion and Durham, plus all stops between Durham and Bishop Auckland as it did previously. The only limited stop section of the route is between Chester-le-Street and Newcastle.

I'll prepare for your moan on how it isn't an express route...

Crikey! Are any of the new timetables free of errors?

I'm over the fact it's not an express route!
I've moved on to far more petty things like the fact that the cove vinyl says 'coil of the River Wear' but your lass Emma says "Loop of the River Wear"!

I know, I watched it. That's how I know we've got one thing in common!

When was it decided that the X21 would serve all stops? Before the timetable was created or was it decided afterwards?

Before - the X21 replaced the 21 between Chester-le-Street and Durham so if it didn’t serve all stops the frequency would have been halved.

It is registered to stop all stops on this section and the Next Stop Announcements reflect this.

So I take it when they edited the timetable they just forgot to take that part out?
Seems like an easy (and ultimately inconsequential) mistake when they're updating that many.
