They were put on the Heaton allocated units when Arriva / Northern Spirit refurbed them from the bench seats to the high backed seats they now have. It was about the same time as the old PTE livery was lost replaced by the Northern Spirit livery and Nexus logo on the outside

Wow, didn't realise it had been that long.

Yeah it was definitely when the 142s got the green / grey high backs I think under Northern Spirit. Definitely pre Northern, It was when Nexus sponsored a lot of the North East services pre Metro

Northern Spirit came in mid-late 90's and it was a few years after then, when the Metro was extended.

Nexus came up with their pipework logo around that period too.

So that would all tie in.

"On the Northern franchise, however, the average age of the fleet is 2, which compares with a national average of 18 years."

Think there's a little mistake? Tongue

Does anyone know the diagrams for Northern or know where to find them?

Looking at possibly doing some Northern bashing on the next bank holiday - but don't want to spend the day sitting on Pacers.
