Replacing Washington's Omnicity's
Replacing Washington's Omnicity's
I’ve heard Streetlites replacing the Omnicitys but that’s not gonna work.
The 50 needs double deckers during summer were it can get packed during summer.
Possibly non Euro 6 vehicles from Riverside to Washington. We still have until 2023 before they are all gone.
Versas would work well or Mercs
(10 Nov 2021, 9:31 pm)Keeiajs Yeah, so they will replace with the 15' plate for 49/A/B/(C?). I am still struggling to find EUro 6 buses which they have spare for the 50/26

(10 Nov 2021, 7:15 pm)Keeiajs Bloody Hell, I didn't realise it was that expensive, and I believe STC just contribute.
But the PVR for the 50/26 is 12 or 14, so GNE did pay for a few themselves it seems.
(10 Nov 2021, 9:54 pm)Storx If I'm right it's going to be like this for the single deckers:
49/49A/67/69 | 5411 - 5419 (E5)
6/12/12A/57 | 5452 - 5469 (E6)
96/97 | 5488 - 5497 (E6)
Q3 | 5380 - 5388 (E6)
53/54 | 8801 - 8808 (E6)
X66 | 5501 - 5503 (E5)
Spares / H / 33 | 5377 - 5379, 5389, 5390, 5498 - 5500, 8809 (E6)
Spares | 5440, 5504 (E5)
Unknown | 8304 - 8318 (E4/E5/E6)
Once the new electrics come in then it's going to displace buses out the red possibly more than 9, I don't believe the PVR of the 6/12/12A is 9. You could replace the E5's but that wouldn't make much sense then you'd just have 5411 - 5419 with nowhere to go instead. I might have missed a route but don't believe I have.

(10 Nov 2021, 10:12 pm)peter The PVR of the 26/50 is 11 not 12-14 and similarly the PVR of the 6/12/12A is 11 I believe following the Lanchester extension. If 9 Streetlites were freed up by the new electrics then you'd still be a couple short to meet the 26/50 PVR - unless the stipulation would be for just the 8 vehicles funded by the council to be replaced, in which case that would be achievable. There might also be mixed allocation of DD and SD, as there few boards that are DD. Also not that big if a deal since the red arrows was a mix of SD and DD in 2011

But aren't they planned on getting branding, I remember someone saying that the NSA says 'City Coaster', but I could see the double Deckers been put on it, the 50 could do with them, the 26 no so much. You could interwork the 9/5/26. Which would be really long like. or the 20/26.

(10 Nov 2021, 10:56 pm)Storx Yeah that's fair, just worked it out that seems right. Mind JP6004 made a good suggestion about Decker's. It could certainly explain why the Euro 6 deckers have been pulled off the X5/X15 when arguably they weren't all needed. The B5H would of been ideal if they were all euro 6, they shorter than standard DD but does give a necessary capacity increase. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. But does seem 50 getting busier lately. Least 80 % full last few times I've been on
5463 - 5469 (SD)
6301 - 6304 (DD)
For the 26/50 maybe?
Leaving the 11 66 plates at Riverside to run the 6/12/12A would work nicely with anything at Washington to act as spares for the 50 since they don't need to be Euro 6 cost wise.

(11 Nov 2021, 12:35 am)Storx Aye totally agreed, it's a shame the conversions obviously haven't gone well and they've been pretty much dumped on services that tbh don't really need them but there's just no-where else to put them. Quite like them tbh.The 20 switches drivers on its way to South Sheilds I believe. So they could do a 20 South Sheilds - 26 - 20 Sunderland .
Possibly one for the future when they've sorted out whatever is going onto it. There's not much point interworking the 5/9/26 though as the driver hours would be too long so you'd have to swap drivers in South Shields anyway, believe the 20 would be similar. If you we're going to do that you might aswell get some minibuses and just run it by itself. It's probably all it needs really.

(11 Nov 2021, 9:44 am)streetdeckfan I think it's less of the fact the conversion hasn't gone well and more that there probably just isn't the funds to finish the rest of them.

(10 Nov 2021, 8:55 pm)Andreos1 To be fair, they knew exactly what they were getting in to when they signed the agreement for the mods.
Quite why they did it and why they thought that it was a good idea, is another matter.

(11 Nov 2021, 10:40 am)S813 FVK or the one that has been converted hasn't been in service long enough to decide if the others are worth converting (data collection)

There also have some Angel Streetdecks on them, in the morning.

(11 Nov 2021, 11:47 am)Dan I'm not sure they've been dumped on services that don't really need them? The conversion of service 16 from single-deck to double-deck allowed the withdrawal of the scholars 816 service (which has always historically duplicated the 16), allowing a cost saving to be made.
It's also permitting the cascade of 4x Euro 6 double-deck buses to services which need to be Euro 6 (i.e. one board on services 26/50 due to capacity issues on one journey on the latter service, and one board on service 25) and/or provide a more adequate number of spare buses which are Euro 6 and of a high quality for customers.

They need a few more doubles on the 50 btw, people were having to stand on an onmicity this afternoon.
