Stagecoach and Metro are operating Saturday timetables.

It's obviously down to a lack of resource/confidence to cover the required runs - much needed boost for our local taxi firms however!
Wistfully stuck in the 90s

Plus no doubt some short notice journey cancellations making the overcrowding even worse.

I've moved the recent posts to the one relevant to 2021 and closed off the previous one.

When I've used boxing day buses, I've found its not so much overcrowding (apart from when there's home matches on), but more that people don't bother. Washington for example, there's only the 2, 4 and 56 running. Nothing to/from/anywhere near the likes of Barmston, Ayton or Rickleton. Its obviously better than fresh air, which is all Arriva provides on Boxing Day, but it's not exactly conducive to encouraging people to use buses instead of a private car... at least I don't know many private cars that refuse to work on Boxing Day.

Has there been any confirmation on who is running the Arriva service in Newcastle on boxing day yet
Go North East have now updated there boxing day buses timetable to show which routes will have what buses allocated

You can find this under the Christmas & New Year part on the website

These routes are

6 will be operated by East Gateshead Loop buses
16A will be operated by X Lines E400MMC
20 will be operated by Double Decker
35A will be operated by Prince Bishops (fun fact you can see what the design for Prince Bishops will look like)
Q3 will be operated by Double Decker

What I find quite funny looking is the design they have used is the East Gateshead Loop put onto an E400MMC it looks strange

Also note that it does not state the X66 will be double decker allocated

Nexus website now updated with all bus times for Christmas & Boxing day. Nexus are paying for some service as well. Still no mention of Arriva running a service on boxing day

On Boxing Day, Go North East and Stagecoach will run some daytime services, with additional services paid for by Nexus. More information will be attached below as soon as possible
No service Xmas day and NYD again... Public service that doesn't run when the public requires it.

Just out of curiosity what kind of service would you like to see on these days?

using what buses, are GNE tickets accepted?

if the services share any common routes or destinations with GNE, I can see them using some nice, refurbished buses to try and steal some passengers.
Although, when GNE were running the Arriva 6, they ran it with Versas, so maybe not! Maybe since GNE ran the X21 along the same route, there was an agreement that they wouldn't use nice buses?

Doubt GNE tickets would be accepted since it's not their service
Its ran from Percy Main along with the 311 so I assume it will be the deckers.

I doubt passengers would think twice. A bus is a bus to most, especially those off on the drink/visiting family on the 26th

Due to it being Boxing Day, most buses aren't required they could stick buses with amenities on them to try and keep passengers or get more for GNE.
