Still got GCT on the timetables
Website has timetable with effect from 5 November. Says Stagecoach on the link - also new route and timetable apparently.

Could be an error of course though.

Inside the timetable, it says Gateshead Central Taxis.
That 515 would be a good one to connect on GNE's 82
Apparently there is a new service connecting Newcastle- Stockton and Middlesbrough via Walkergate,South Shields, Hartlepool and Stockton coming on 31st November according to another person on another thread.Does any one know and extra info about this new service?

If there was, it would have needed to be registered many weeks ago.

There has been no service registered to do this (as far as I can see).

Would possibly need an evening & Sunday service to make it worthwhile. TNE, Arriva & GNE have come up with nothing productive on the Coast Road other than amalgamate routes.

X44
Mon-Sat every 30 minutes (interworking with 317)
PVR - Additional 3x

Evenings & Sundays every 60 minutes (standalone)
To Marden Estate only completing anti-clockwise loop
PVR - 1x

- Whitley Bay Town Centre > Marden Estate > NT Hospital > Billy Mill > Coast Road / Norham Road > Coast Road / Silverlink > Coast Road / Willington Square then NON STOP to Corner House then all stops to Newcastle Haymarket

Evening & Sunday departures xx:10 from Haymarket to sit 5 minutes in-front of 308.
What's it with you constantly suggesting the Coast road is bad. Every post is the same

Your not saying GNE & Arriva have with nothing productive. So the whole coast road agreement is nothing then. Means nothing at all

I think it’s a shame that Service 18 (Sunderland) timetable couldn’t become a bit more structured. It seems so irregular.

Always empty when I see it. Should just withdraw it

It has been like that an awful long time. I think it's like that as it works around scholars if it weren't for those I think it would've been withdrawn a long time ago. If something ain't broke...

Now where is that enthusiast attitude. You should be grateful it hasn't been. Why you'd want less services I have no idea. Personally I'd make it a loop through to Grangetown and City Centre.
Its not like Stagecoach Sunderland are struggling other than for drivers - which I mentioned earlier are for scholars anyhow.

Yeah make it a circular route like it once was years ago

The 18/18A is one of those routes that really needs to be looked at under BSIP and someone decide what exactly is the point of it. It goes to a lot of places, but I'm failing to see exactly anything of real note on the whole route, it avoids both Sainsbury's stores, it avoids Doxford Park to the South, avoids the business park North of the water, avoids the businesses near the new bridge, avoids the businesses near the A19 near Pennywell.

It's a bit bizarre route, comes across as a route designed 50 year ago and never really changed with stuff changing around it.

https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Morrison...?entry=ttu - Something like that would be better imo, it's basically serving the same areas but you've now got Sainsburys at Silksworth, Morrison's at Doxford Park, Doxford Park Enterprise Park, Pennywell, Aldi Chester Road, Royal Hospital, Pallion Retail Park, Hylton Retail Park, Southwick, Aldi Southwick, Fulwell, Seaburn Morrisons / Beach.

Connects loads of little places up for pensioners etc and they're all hard to get to, no service from Doxford Park to Silksworth etc or anywhere really North / South to the West of Sunderland.
Around school times, the 18 and 18A are particularly well used. It's also the only bus round parts of Southwick and the back of Roker Park. It's quiet but rare for it to be completely empty.

It was going to be withdrawn in July (or June whenever it was), but didn't because "it's political".

The kids, mostly going to the college on Durham Road I guess, which I assume it the purpose for the long 18's(18A) still existing?
