Whitley Bay Bus Rally
Sunday 5th July | 10:00 AM
The Links
I'm quite looking forward to going to this rally also, although it might be a bit of a nightmare for me to get to.

I'm hoping Go North East bring a couple, John thinks they will. As well as this, I really do hope Arriva bring something as they are always some of the most welcoming at the rally with letting people onto the buses and having a play with the destination blinds etc. I hope one arsehole hasn't ruined it for everyone else at not only this rally but future rally's also.

Not really, the 308 or 309 goes direct from Newcastle Haymarket and takes about 40 minutes.

Same it's not that easy for me either.

Yes but that will cost about what £5-6 return? I will only have around £10, which means I would have literally no money after I have bought my £3.75
Not sure whether I will be attending this as it will take me about 3 hours to get there each way so I am unsure whether I will be up to this although I would maybe like to try and possibly get some photos in places up that way but I have practically zero knowledge of my way round up there. Also if last year was anything to go by it was rubbish although last year I think they placed it on the same day as Showbus so they were always going to struggle to get people to bring buses there.

Also I am thinking of doing the first day of Moorsbus instead that day.

Get a £1.10, Whitley Bay is Tyne & Wear remember as you did that for the Tyne Tees Run.

£3.70 return on the Coastliner, £3.90 return on the Cobalt Clipper.

My Pop Card isn't accepted after 31.6.2015

Is it not 31/7/15?
I'm most likely going to attend. I love the scenery around that part of the coast, I'm also hoping to ride a few preserved vehicles on the scheduled shuttles. One goes around the local area, another goes to the Stephenson Railway Museum. Would love the Northumbria Delta to make an appearance; haven't been on one since I was a young one, and I recall they had loads of power. I missed out on it at the MetroCentre Rally... Apparently the driver just put his foot down on Lobley Hill Bank, and it was away. Smile

I'm led to believe that Geoff will be in attendance at the Whitley Bay Rally.

Maybe. Maybe not. Who knows where Geoff will turn up!

Yes. I got it when they first got issued and it appears to be a common error

Well the earliest I can get to Whitley Bay is around 1150!

Can you not do train to Newcastle and then the Metro? Or at least do the way back on the train to save you some time?

According to Traveline the earliest I can get to Whitley Bay, The Links is around 1122 so the extra expense wouldn't be worth getting there only around 30 minutes earlier.

Another example of how poor my transport services are compared to those of you in Tyne and Wear.

I wouldn't advise getting the Metro. Would be at least a 20 minute walk.

Must be a long way from the rally site as when I removed the bus option from Traveline it said error no journeys possible or something like that.
Even citaro5284 might make an appearance there......

Glad you've told me that. I've never been to the Whitley Bay rally before, and I'd have made that mistake. Tongue

It'd be rude not to when it's in your neck of the woods! Smile
