Whilst on the subject on the 40 / 41, I'm sure the via points are the wrong way around on the 40 at least. I will double check when I'm out photoing on Thursday.
It was the 1822. I'm not too bothered, as the 42 isn't far behind.

Long gap in service on the 21 this morning. 3965 came off Eighton Lodge roundabout and ran light to Newcastle.

They use that data because it would be wrong not to - only around 6 (maybe even 5 or 4) hours of a day are classed as 'peak' hours. While the journeys during this time get busy, it is no justification to continue operating the service, even just for them.

I just want to touch upon the e-petition actually (I know it hasn't been mentioned in the above post): I was watching The Wright Stuff yesterday morning (yes, there really wasn't anything else on) and one of the segments that they had was asking if e-petitions were any good. A caller in this part openly admitted that they had 3 different emails for their own reasons which is fine, they then admitted to signing 1 e-petition with all 3 adresses. Do we not think this is how the petition on the withdrawl of the 11 has got as many signature? Otherwise, there'd be an 11 service to Newcastle from Blackhall Mill every 30 minutes.

If the demand was there, they'd supply more buses, they either aren't making enough money (understandable) or aren't making as much as they'd like (very different but understandable) in that area.

Historically the area has never had a fantastic bus service and like Kibblesworth it's one of those things that the majority are car owners and GNE can't compete with that.

I'm wondering if there's shades of the 21/21a/21b here.

Maybe they need the vehicles elsewhere, on a route where they feel they can make more money.
The downside is that the replacement ends up suffering through a domino, cause and effect.

The vehicles on service 11 have been (or will be, at the end of the Metro Replacements) directly withdrawn.

So it seems we'll be stuck with the 2 remaining duel door versions for the time-being then... should withdraw them first!
