Do public buses even pay for the Tunnel
? I don't know btw, just had a feeling they might have an exception for them.

Either way unless there's a mass timetable change Percy Main can't run the 26 all day anyway since it interworks with the 50 and there's a 24 minute wait at South Shields. The only boards that realistically they could cover are the 2 evening boards which run empty from Washington and run alone which the £3.33 (if they pay it) would be cheaper than running empty.

I am sure the 310 from sunderland to blyth the driver stopped at the toll booth and paid something then drove on

Didn’t the buses on the 310/319 have a thing next to the window screen so when the bus approached the barrier it detected it and then the barrier lifted up

When the 9 used to go through the Tunnel the driver had this wooden like sign thing with a handle.

But I used to see NIS 309/310s go through the Tyne Tunnel all the time when they had citaros.

I thought they went through for free

we are talking 30 plus years ago. I just remeber sitting on the triple seat upstairs at the front and the driver clicking his change dispenser then driving off.
The 11 going through the tunnel went down a different road to get into the tunnel towards Jarrow. However the 10 to North Shields went past the toll booth
The 26 will be ran out of Percy Main along with the 82/84/85 in the evening only. The Q3 is being run from Percy Main all day

And yes its a temporary thing, meaning at least 4 months or so, in order to free up staff to reduce the number of cancellations in the day for both Washington and Riverside

Wonder what they'll use on these services.

a pity the Q3 isn’t still running to Wallsend - no doubt there will be a lot of vans shuttling drivers to/from Percy Main
I'm sure this has been posted somewhere but I can't find it - which of the Solos have been listed for sale as a result of the forthcoming changes?

Depending on how many the buses the 26 require. If it require 2 on a evening then the two StreetLite from the 41/41A

82/84/85 might use the rest of the Solos at Percy Main (not the little coaster branded ones 691,695)
What happened to the Old Sunderland Connect Buses

Southbound tunnel was built with an alternative entrance for maintenance and emergency vehicles, they also let buses use it. Northbound has no such facility.

Probably a permit they used.

With ANPR being used now both cash and permits are redundant. I'd imagine that GNE could negotiate discounted rates for buses?

Thanks, wonder if they will leave 691/3-5 Little Coasters branded and run the 19 or 41 under that brand to save repainting them?

From one hideous livery to another!

May be the case for service buses, but if not then its £3.33 for prepaid travel.

Firstly, the new PVR for the 41/41A is 3 not 2, and looking at the timetable the evening 26 seemingly would need 4 buses.

It's already been confirmed that as the 19 is contracted to run with larger buses that most of Streetlites 8339-8346 will be transferring to Percy Main for both the 41/41A and 19, so 691/3-5 will almost certainly be getting a repaint. Tbh idek if those Solo's will stay at Percy Main cause what would they be used on...the Streetlites would be more than enough for the evening runs they're getting. I imagine they'll be hanging onto those Solo's to see the outcome of more Nexus and DCC contracts later this year, unless another service elsewhere is due to undergo conversion to minibus (something will be needed at Deptford for the 5/9 after all).

Has it actually been confirmed that the 41/41A is all being ran by the 83xx Streetlites?

I have a feeling that it might be like the 67/69 in Gateshead where it's just ran with whatever isn't on the road from the 1/19/Q3/Deckers

Can't imagine they will they send 6 or 7 / 8 out of a batch of unique buses it just doesn't make much sense.

Also I can image it will only be 2/4 of the 26 boards ran by Percy Main. The other 2 work with the 50 so wouldn't really work without timetable changes.
8344 is already at Percy Main, it saw it on the 310 or 311 yesterday.

It was confirmed on this Flickr post by Dan that the batch of 8 would be split for service 19/41

8343 is at Percy Main as well
The 26 could have interworked with the 5 at Jarrow allowing changeovers to be done at a Jarrow Bus Station with all boards ran by Percy Main. The 9 & 50 could be standalone, remaining at Deptford and Washington. Perhaps you could even give the 50 a summer extension to the seafront area too.
