There's absolutely nothing worse than getting on a bus when it it's freezing outside and they've got the heating on full blast.
Rather be on a hot bus as you can always open the window to cool it down.

Unless some twat comes over and closes the window again!

Plus, if it's cold on the bus, then it's probably cold outside, so you should be wearing the appropriate clothing for the colder temperature.

It was a standard feature on buses bought by OK.
(07 Dec 2022, 11:38 am)Jimmi wrote [ -> ]What's the classic E400 bodies like in winter at Arriva Northumbria? I only ask as the 15 plate examples at Darlington seem to get colder every winter especially on the top deck, dread having to use them at this time of year and have complained about this to Arriva previously but nothing was done (last year one example was made worse by blocks being installed on all bar one of the top deck windows as a COVID measure, could really feel the cold on windy/icy days).

I haven't had one this winter so far as the one time one was allocated it broke down before it got to me, so can't comment on what they're like currently. That said, from memory they're really not the best - the 09 plates used to be the worst, the 14/64/15s used to be okay but again it's been a while since I had a trip on one in the winter.

Funnily enough literally the day after my previous comment I had 7546 - the coldest MMC I've ever been on by a country mile. Can only assume the thermostat has broken, as there was no attempt at heat at all (bar next to the drivers cab, which was roasting).
6949 has entered service at Riverside now being used on the 85A/scholars/933 the past 2 evenings

If it’s been taken in by GNE then probably the Park Lane - South hylton bus replacement. Was announced today and will be running from the 19th.

Somewhat surprised they didn't do this quicker.

I think it’s taken longer to get in place because its an issue with network rail and not nexus

Metro Flow was extended to end on Friday 16th December (but actually finished early on Wednesday 14th), and the supervisory resource from that contract at GNE is being moved to support South Hylton from Monday.

Unfortunately no operators had the resource to assist Nexus sooner - everyone is still short-staffed, losing mileage, and for independent operators, panto season is one of their busiest times of year.

Oh no it isn't
Has enough of the ex GAL stock arrived yet to send the ugly EYMS stuff back?
at least 5 of the ex london E400's have turned up at Washington.
6301 to 6307 seem to have vanished
There were 4 E400 on X1 today, meanwhile 58 were getting StreetDecks. 6336 made it onto the Little Pinks Circuit,

THe only thing I can think of they're either they're all get MOTs, or repaints as they've all been off for 2 days bar one.

The corp liveried Streetdecks surely don’t need repainting?!

It was just a guess, they could be pulled off the 50.

They aren’t being repainted, they’re just VOR.

Thought as much.
6947 presumably temporarily based at Hexham, it's on my local route today (684). It has been on the 687/X85/688/684 today. Yesterday it did the 643.
I dont know why GNE don't do a later X85 from Newcastle to try and get some revenue, same with going to Newcastle for the later return Journey

The LX06 plate Volvo B7/Gemini are being withdrawn so might it be a permanent replacement?

Should be getting rid of the Omnidekka's before the B7 Geminis as latter I'd say are in better condition even if few of them should like Henry Hoovers.

687/X85/688/684 should be single deckers or minibuses. 6947 might be for the 643 possibly. I don't expect it will stay based at Hexham for long.

I think 6947 is staying, there is too 3943 there which is Euro 6 which could form a spare for 5377-5379 if one isn't on the road. I also believe Hexham run 3-4 schools routes which run off the S2 & 643, I believe both get switch 2-3 times a day.
Nothing stopping them from using double deckers either on the 684/687/688/X85

True. Just doesn't need them.
