Wonder if they've went for the Optare MetroDecker for the remaining 3 deckers that are on order.

My guess is 3 Volvo B5s for Coastliner to replace the remaining B9s

I thought the remaining B9's had been replaced last year by the newer 68 plate B5's with some the B9's having moved over to Rosso.

South Yorkshire

Well, with September approaching, Travel South Yorkshire have posted their service change details for the new school year - which sees a major revision of services, mainly in the Sheffield area as followed:

[*]First's 1a (High Green to Herdings) is replaced by new services 11 and 11a - the 11 directly replaces the 1a between Chapeltown and Herdings every 15 minutes, while the 11a links Northern General Hospital to Herdings also every 15 minutes. Between the City Centre and Herdings, the 11a replaces the 56.
[*]First's 3/3a (Meadowhall to Nether Edge via City Centre) is withdrawn - the Meadowhall-City section is replaced by an extension of the 95 (currently Walkley to City), while the City-Nether Edge section is replaced by a diverted 56 following the replacement of the Herdings-City section of that service.
[*]The Meadowhall-Hillsborough corridor is reduced from every 30 minutes (hourly on both the 35 and 38) to hourly - with the 38 replaced by an extended 18 (City Centre to Meadowhall via Woodseats, Gleadless and Darnall) and the 35 withdrawn. The Firth Park-Meadowhall frequency will remains at 8 buses an hour with the extension of PTE-contracted service 32 (currently City Centre to Firth Park via Foxhill and Northern General Hospital) to Meadowhall which passes to First from the change.
[*]The Evening short journeys on the 57 pass to First from Stagecoach, along with the early Sunday morning journeys between Sheffield and Stocksbridge. The Sunday journeys on the 57a between Hillsborough, Oughtibridge, Worrall and Hillsborough also pass from TM Travel to First, however they are replaced by standard 57 trips between Hillsborough and Oughtibridge, running via Worrall in both directions.
[*]Chancet Wood sees their fourth route change since the 2015 Partnership recast - the current 19 service is withdrawn, with Chancet Wood served by the diversion of one 76 journey an hour to the estate as a 76a.
[*]A number of PTE contracts are withdrawn due to commercial replacements being available - the 4 (City Centre to Bents Green or Ringinglow) and the evening 4a (City Centre to Millhouses Tesco) are replaced due to the diversion of the 218 to serve Psalter Lane (Ringinglow will be served by a revised 181); the 31/31b (City Centre to Loxley via Lower Walkley and Hillsborough) are replaced between the City Centre and Hillsborough by diverted First service 135/135a, and between Hillsborough and Loxley by First's 52a every 30 minutes
[*]All contracts operated by Sheffield Community Transport have either been won by other operators or withdrawn - one of the major ones is the 268 and M92, both of which pass to Stagecoach; the 268 (Hillsborough to Wharncliffe Side) is renumbered the 58, while the M92 (currently Foxhill to Harley) is extended from Foxhill to Hillsborough replacing the 35 but on a reduced frequency of every 2 hours.
[*]Powells have drastically increased their presence in Sheffield as a result of the above - from SCT, they have won the 10/10a (the Inner Circle - Manor Top to Manor Top via Gleadless Valley, Hallamshire Hospital and City Centre) and the 5 (City Centre to Firth Park). From TM Travel, they have won the 61/62 (Hillsborough to Bradfield), and from Stagecoach the 35a (Chapeltown to Thorncliffe Industrial Estate) and the 201 (Chapeltown to Stocksbridge). However, the daytime journeys on the X7 are withdrawn - with it reverting back to a peak time only route.
Transdev - York & Country

Confirmation from Alex Hornsby on his personal Twitter account - due here in addition to the 5 Wright Streetdecks for CityZap, are 5 short wheelbase Alexander Dennis Enviro200MMCs for newly won City of York Council-funded services. These are:
19 (York City Centre to Skelton) Saturday journeys
24 (Acomb to City Centre)
25 (Fulford to Derwenthorpe via City Centre)
26 (Fulford to South Bank via City Centre)
14 (Foxwood to Haxby via City Centre) - Haxby to City all evening, City to Foxwood after 2130 (First will operate the 12 on a commercial basis until that time between Monks Cross and Foxwood via the City Centre).
The first two Wright Streetdecks have arrived at Arriva Yorkshire Wakefield Depot - they are 1576 SN69ZXK and 1577 SN69ZXL. Two of (I believe) 18 on order to be operated on busy Sspphire route 110 between Leeds and Hall Green.

Chesterfield-based 'Gold' Scania E400 15190-2 are now branded for new service X1 (Chesterfield - Clay Cross - Alfreton - East Midlands Designer Outlet - Nottingham) which starts on Sunday (15192 has therefore lost its short-lived branding for the 50) and are to be receive Euro6 modifications.

10 Gold-specification Scania E400s are due to transfer from Oxford once their new E400MMCs have entered service. Reports elsewhere suggest 5 will be allocated to Chesterfield, where they will be allocated to the 50 group in place of the native examples now branded for the X1, while the other 5 will be allocated to Barnsley depot to convert the X10 (Barnsley to Leeds express) to full time double decker operation (and supposedly additionally allow Barnsley to operate their X17 turns with Gold-spec vehicles).

Interesting read, I'm not usually one to complain, but leg room on pretty much all of GNE's fleet is horrendous. It is physically impossible for me to sit straight on the seats, hence why my first choice is to go for a table on the StreetDecks/E400s, or the emergency exit on a single decker. Failing that, I have no choice but to sit sideways and take up both seats, so it's great to see that some operators are sacrificing capacity for passenger comfort!

I'm a big fan of EVs, although with an electric drivetrain being so quiet, it's really noticeable when the bus itself is of low quality. The Yutongs for example, when they had the trial on the X66, it was creaker than the windows on the E200s! and you could fee the weight of the batteries on the roof going round corners. The same with the E200 EV that GNE trialed last year, things that were normally not noticeable over the sound of the engine, were very noticeable! Going off what you wrote, it seems like this wasn't an issue with the Volvos so that's also great to see!

I'm not a fan of that NSA system they have installed, the screen seems a bit too crowded for my liking. I much prefer what GNE have done with the newer system with the next stop taking up the full screen, although it is handy to see the next few stops you can get prepared to leave, which would be handy on a longer route where you're more likely to have things like phone chargers and tablets to put away.

The issue you mentioned about the tables not having stop buttons is the same issue with the E400s, if you're sitting at a table, you have to lean over and push the stop button in front of someone else, which can be quite awkward. Also, I've been on an E400 a few times where the stop buttons on the seats haven't worked at all, so it was only sheer luck that someone downstairs was getting off at my stop, as I didn't have time to walk to the front of the bus to push the only proper stop button (which is a chore in and of itself with the low height upstairs!)

The thing that shocked me (being a user of Durham Bus Station) was when you mentioned the supervisor telling the driver to go round to not block the stand. They need some at Durham to do that with Arriva!

There's no bell for the back row of seats either which was annoying the first time I rode one, not knowing the other seats had bells on the side I had to walk to the front of the bus and press a bell or hope someone would want the same stop as me, actually had similar issue sat at the front of 4811 the other night.

Harrogate Bus Station is rather irritating for someone like myself as I'm a bit impatient and there's not much space to navigate your way through it, always either get stuck behind someone walking really slowly and can't get past them or people stand in a position that makes it so you can't get past them.

The quality difference between these and the Streetair EVs that Lothian have is streets apart. The Volvo is just a far superior product, but having used the hybrids up in Edinburgh, I wasn't expecting anything else.

Never managed to catch up with the Yutong, so quite looking forward to their arrival up here.

It's strange. Given where the bell is placed on the side wall, I don't think I'd be best pleased with someone reaching over in that area.

I'm yet to be convinced of the latest fad of having no handrails, but equally operators need to put some thought into where the stop buttons should be placed. The rear of the seats, like the Enviros that GNE have recently purchased, is ideal.

Yes, I'd agree with that! It's got a similar issue to the re-development of Durham though, and that the footprint doesn't give them a lot to play with...

I'm looking forward to the Yutongs, I'm just hoping the quality has improved since the demo, the same way GNE's E400s are miles better than any others I've tried.

I personally think proper handrails should be required. I'm pretty sure I could break one of the SmartSeats if I tried, I'm tempted to try but I don't want to get in trouble!
I've mentioned in the past the incident I had where the driver forgot to stop until last minute and literally did an emergency stop as I was standing up. If it hadn't been for the handrails at the top of the stairs I would have been through the windscreen, grabbing one of those tiny handles on the seats would have been impossible

Excluding the ex London E400s that joined the fleet last year, yes they will be.
