RE: Stagecoach North East
Just a note that another diversion (in addition to yesterday's) started today. This diversion, however, is to be in place for six weeks. A rather familiar diversion to us all now - instead of going via Holmeside, services are going via the Stockton Road loop. Stagecoach staff have been at hand today at Holmeside, Fawcett Street and the Albion Place/Green Terrace junction also.
Temporary suspension of Fawcett Street bus stops from Monday 29 April 2013
Services 3, 4, 5, 5A, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 16 will be affected by the temporary suspension of all bus stops at the southern end of Fawcett Street, outside Wilkinsons to allow for gas mains replacement and highways works.

This phase of the works is scheduled to commence on Monday 29 April 2013, and will be in place for approximately six weeks.
Due to the nature of these temporary works, ALL journeys on Services 3, 4, 5, 5A, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 16 will be unable to observe their normal bus stops on Fawcett Street, outside Wilkinsons. Furthermore, Services 3, 4, 12, 13 and 16 will also be required to divert away from their Vine Place bus stops.
During this phase of the works, customers are advised to use the following alternative bus stop locations in the area:
Service 3 buses towards Hylton Castle will be diverted from Priestman Roundabout to operate via Stockton Road and Burdon Road, observing a temporary bus stop on Stockton Road (near Cowen Terrace) and on Burdon Road (opposite War Memorial). As a consequence of this diversion, Service 3 will be unable to observe its normal bus stops on Vine Place and Fawcett Street.
Service 4 buses towards Downhill and Town End Farm will be diverted from Priestman Roundabout to operate via Stockton Road and Burdon Road, observing a temporary bus stop on Stockton Road (near Cowen Terrace) and on Burdon Road (opposite War Memorial). As a consequence of this diversion, Service 4 will be unable to observe its normal bus stops on Vine Place and Fawcett Street.
Service 5 buses towards Docks will be able to operate normal routes, but as they will not be able to stop on Fawcett Street, customers should use the next normal bus stop for this route (Athenaeum Street stand "S09")
Service 5A buses towards Docks will be able to operate normal routes, but as they will not be able to stop on Fawcett Street, customers should use the next normal bus stop for this route (Fawcett Street stand "S16")
Service 10 and 11 buses towards Grangetown will be able to operate normal routes, but as they will not be able to stop on Fawcett Street, customers should use the next normal bus stop for these routes (Athenaeum Street stand "S10")
Service 12 buses arriving in the City Centre will be diverted from Priestman Roundabout to operate via Stockton Road and Burdon Road, observing a temporary bus stop on Stockton Road (near Cowen Terrace) and on Burdon Road (opposite War Memorial). Buses from the City Centre towards Silksworth will commence on Burdon Road (not Fawcett Street), and then operate via Holmeside and normal route. As a consequence of this diversion, Service 12 will be unable to observe its normal bus stops on Vine Place and Fawcett Street.
Service 13 buses towards Town End Farm will be diverted from Priestman Roundabout to operate via Stockton Road and Burdon Road, observing a temporary bus stop on Stockton Road (near Cowen Terrace) and on Burdon Road (opposite War Memorial). As a consequence of this diversion, Service 13 will be unable to observe its normal bus stops at Vine Place and Fawcett Street.
Service 16 buses towards Red House Estate will be diverted after Green Terrace, so as to operate via Old Stockton Road, Mary Street, Stockton Road and Burdon Road, observing a temporary bus stop on Stockton Road (near Cowen Terrace) and on Burdon Road (opposite War Memorial). As a consequence of this diversion, Service 16 will be unable to observe its normal bus stops at Vine Place and Fawcett Street.
Due to the footprint of the works, there is the potential for delays to all services traversing Fawcett Street. Clearly, whilst we will be attempting to operate all routes in accordance with their published timetables, there is nonetheless the potential that some trips may be subject to delay.
Stagecoach would like to apologise for any inconvenience these works by Northern Gas Networks and Sunderland City Council may cause, and we remain grateful for customers’ patience and understanding.
