In the Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Executive thread, we welcome three complete guides to bus, rail and ferry timetables from 1974 and 1979.
There are two examples from 1974. This is because, up until 1978/9, timetables were geographically separated into the locales of Newcastle/Gateshead; North Tyneside; South Tyneside; and Sunderland. Dextrovert has kindly supplied the Newcastle/Gateshead guide (which has been posted here and here, and AdamY has also kindly supplied the South Tyneside guide to complement it.
From 1978/9 - until 1986 - all timetables were combined into a huge 600+ paged booklet. The 1979 guide that Dextrovert has also supplied has also been uploaded, and this can be found here.

These files are all pretty big, so will take some time to load. AdamY has scanned his South Tyneside guide, but Dextrovert has taken photographs of each and every page and combined them into a .pdf document for us - so they will both look slightly different in terms of quality.

As we all know, Brandon is taking some time away from North East Buses. In his absence, I hope to work alongside all members who contribute files on a regular basis and upload/update files as they ask. I think most of us will know that I concentrate more on present day events (which is why I manage the fleet lists/fleet news sections of the site), so I'm perhaps not best suited to this area... If anyone feels that the above update should have been done in a different way and I'm destroying everything... please tell me! :p

Hi there, just an update, I'm still working on the May '84 and March '86 PTE timetables, just taking longer than I thought it would for the 1140 pages in total. Hope to get them finished within the week. Stay tuned.

Update: 26/11/13

Just a small update... A new thread has been added to the Bus Operators section: Munro's of Jedburgh. This is a dedicated thread for old timetables and discussion on the former operations of Munro's, where timetables have already been uploaded for the services how they operated when Munro's sadly ceased trading earlier this year. If you have any further content you'd like to add to this section, please PM me.

We're still looking at completely re-vamping the Bygone Era section where all content that has been uploaded to our server can immediately be added to the site and be ready for download. With Brandon departing the site again, I'm rather unsure indeed of where he finished off and where I ought to start - this will aid me in this continued venture, and be of greater convenience to us all in future when new content is sent to us to be uploaded. We anticipate that this update will be released at some point over the Christmas holidays, though could easily be delayed to be launched for the New Year depending on how often Liam and I have a night to devote to NEB.

I'll keep you posted as and when updates are ready for release.

Dextrovert sent us clear photographs of the files he has contributed towards the Bygone Era and cropped them down a little too so that it's just the timetable/page that is shown.

Update: 27/11/13

Hey, I'm getting good at this - aren't I?

In this update, we see the introduction of a new thread: "Tyne & Wear Bus Strategy - Quality Contracts Scheme". As the consultation for the scheme has now ended, all consultation responses are available on Nexus' website. As such, we have archived the .pdf files for historical viewing, as it is highly unlikely that Nexus will host the documents on their website forever. A further 50 files have been collected towards the thread's expansion so far. I endeavour to get these uploaded as soon as possible, and in the mean time, feel free to PM me with further content.

Update: 12/12/13

As the year draws to a close and I'm off for my Christmas holidays, it seemed appropriate to give the Bygone Era an update that was well due.

This update sees the reconstruction of the "Stagecoach North East - Busways, Transit, Economic, Favourite" thread so that it is in the format which Brandon introduced to a number of threads which had a great deal of content.

Following on from a thread which was added to the "Stagecoach North East" section of the forum last night containing a fleet list dating back to October 2003, latterly leading to a suggestion of archiving the material contained within the thread, Richard Smiles has shared further content with me via e-mail so that it could be archived on the public domain, for all to see and download providing they are members of the North East Buses forum.

It is with my pleasure therefore to introduce the Fleet Lists & Allocation post to the aforementioned reconstructed Stagecoach North East and former identities thread in the Bygone Era. All of Richard's fleet lists (dating back to 1985!) complement the fleet allocation dating back to 1997 which cbma06 sent to us originally upon original thread creation.
This section now contains 100 files, with more soon to be added. We have a complete monthly set of updated fleet lists from 2011 to add, and further fleet lists which were updated somewhat more irregularly from the early 2000s, similar to those under the 2001 header for Tees.

May I take this opportunity to thank Richard Smiles once more on behalf of the entire community for contributing these files to the Bygone Era. It's much appreciated, and will certainly help towards the "Vehicle History" section of North East Buses' fleet lists too. A win/win situation for both enthusiasts which follow the past, present and future of the Stagecoach North East fleet.

It's been four years since the last update in this thread, and now that the re-creation of the new-look Archive is well underway, we're going to resurrect this thread to provide more regular updates of what's new to the Archive. This is a plea for help - if anyone has access to any old Busways or TWPTE local transport guides/maps please can you get in touch via private message if you can help populate a new feature I’m trying to develop for my website, tracking the history of Busways services over the years. I’m starting with Sunderland but will cover Shields and Newcastle over time. I’ve got various gaps I need to try to find info/dates/routes for – rather than me clogging the forum with lists of questions though please just get in touch if you can help.

Likewise, it would be great to illustrate it with photos so if you have any Busways photos I could include (either directly or embedding from e.g. flickr) please also drop me a message.
