It appears to have been on the X1 this afternoon according to bus times. Are Stagecoach operating Metro Replacements this weekend alongside other operators?

No - this weekend's contract is operated wholly by Go North East (23x buses on the 900/901, 3x buses on the X900, 4x buses on the X901).
