Metrocentre Express X22 re-brand

Just wondered whether the X22 was classed as experimental too.

It's hardly a new service though is it? The experimental phase must ended well over a decade ago. I'm surprised it has lasted this long to be honest.

That paint mustn't have worked its magic!

I wonder how much longer Arriva's Gateshead to Metrocentre service will last?

For as long as they keep feeding their drivers raw meat.

It looks like similar has happened to the X62. Still listed on the website but no timetable (even though it's mentioned in PDF timetables for the 62/X6). Very odd given I haven't seen anything regarding either route in service change updates.

Difference is, X62 is listed on Nexus' website, but the X22 isn't.

X62 only runs school time. Therefore it won't be on this week.

Why would they be repainted? The X22 is temporarily suspended, and has not been permanently withdrawn, unless someone has seen something published on the Go North East website that I haven’t?

While the driver shortage is ongoing, it makes no sense to bring back the X22 for the relatively small number of customers that use it.

I don’t think there are any plans to withdraw 3941-43/62-65.

They are provisional specification, have recently been fitted with Wi-Fi and next stop announcements, and are presumably better to keep than older Scania OmniDekkas or ex-London dual-door Volvo B7s of a similar age.

A member of the customer services team on twitter responded to a passenger asking if the service was 'cancelled for good' saying that the service was 'withdrawn'. While you could say it was temporarily 'withdrawn', that wording in response to that particular query certainly made it sound like it would not be returning.

I would suggest if a permanent cancellation hasn’t been posted on the website, the customer services team have used a poor choice of words or have misinformed the customer (after all, once the X9 was permanently cancelled, this was posted on the website).

This is the actual tweet, btw.

To be fair it is probably more confusing/doesnt add value for anyone to include reference to a service that isn't running.  Same approach is taken with seasonal services like ToonTour, and indeed Stagecoach 100 if searching the timetables section for that currently. Admittedly, the tweet clearly suggests it has been permanently withdrawn and as the only official GNE comment on the subject means it isn't surprising people may conclude it's permanently gone, however.

I think the customer has unintentionally become an ill-informed bystander due to the information given to them by the customer service team.

is that not the reason services have been withdrawn commercially in North Tyneside
