Dealer stock vehicles, ie not built for Go North East so would probably be too costly to modify.

Thought the Omnicities might end up on the Great Park Park and Ride.

Surely someone at GNE with a B&Q Diamond CARD could pop down one Wednesday and pick up the necessary bits Tongue

Great Park & Ride being merged into Quaylink and will be renumbered Q3

That actually looks quite good I think.

That's as much as I can really say otherwise my dad would probably disown me for the area it's branded for.

It would be the labour to fit the parts that would be the major cost.

Agreed. It is the time it takes to fit all the wiring that is the problem. The parts are relatively cheap.

Fleet News from Go North East's website:

More new Streetlites are 5412: NK15 EOC and 5414: NK15 EOE, both for Red Kite. Also new are the first of 4 Volvo B9TL/Wright Gemini for Red Kite 6119: BG15 RNJ and 6121: BG15 RNO. MPD 524: NA52 AWG has been transferred from Riverside to Hexham.

The first of the two Volvo B9TLs has already been repainted into a red base livery. The second has been sanded down and will be ready to go into the paintshop tomorrow.

Blimey - that was quick!

Is the idea to disguise them?

Remember when I said the Toon Link would be black and white?
When I said the OmniCity's were for the Toon Link?
And the 47 was becoming the Red Kite?

Three out of Three for those that said it was all bs

Admittedly not much, but the driver was bouncing the bus up and down on the pavement at Gateshead while letting a buggy on board.

Streetlites are hopelessly low at the front, they soon get scuffed on the front corner! That's only the skid plate, mind, rather than the bus itself.

Ok thanks, just am not from around that area, I came across this article below of the launch of the originally red kites with the Omni's, just that service 45,46 services the Derwent area of where the red kites birds are, just wondering if service 47 serves that bit of area aswell:

Lee, this "I told you so" attitude won't do you any favours. I don't think anyone actually said you were wrong - a few users just responded by saying even the most well-respected enthusiasts can be wrong sometimes. You were told that the Streetlites would be entering service yesterday, but they didn't. In fact, they weren't even allocated at the start of play today. Branded vehicles replaced the Scania L94s and 5332 one by one from about 09:00am!

Go North East have uploaded 'paper buses' of the new Toonlink brand, along with the decker version of the Red Kite.

I'm pretty impressed with both I have to say. The Toonlink brand especially looks fantastic.

Not sure what Greg in Weardale will think about the bird of prey on his windows mind. Tongue

Dan, do you know if they're retrimming the interior or even upgrading the seats to the GNE standard for the new B9s? Not a huge issue I know, but it keeps them consistent if they were to be reallocated in the future?

I can vouch for that.

I was on the 08:24 X66 from Metrocentre to Gateshead and it certainly wasn't a new Streetlite. I was actually surprised when I boarded one upon my return journey.

I'm not sure, sorry!

The seat moquette used appears to be the same as the dealer-stock VDL SB120/Wright Merit vehicles. Although not standard amongst the other Volvo B9s in the fleet, the Esteban Civic V2 seating is the same seating on most other vehicle types in the fleet, so isn't too bad. The current seat moquette matches the interior colourscheme well - and hey, if it stays red, at least it matches the colour of the bus from the outside?
