Thanks for the suggestions - I've just had a wobbler thrown to me, daughter wants to visit me . . .

So I might not be going.

It'll be easier for me to get to the MetroCentre on Monday for the bus rally.  Big Grin

Quite a bit to do to them before they go on the road.....they of course have to be taxed but also other things like, CCTV and wifi commissioned, branding applied, destinations checked and programme uploaded, ticket machine baseplates fitted, radio's fitted, and other things.

Quite a few of the things above are done by external contractors so it is just a case of having to fit into their schedules.

I can tell you at least 4 have been parked at chester depot since yesterday, and i'd say about 95% of chester drivers have been type trained.

5402 - 5409 have all transferred from Saltmeadows to Chester-le-Street, but 5402 has since transferred to Stanley Depot in addition to 5395/98 - 5401. Following the publicity event today, 5397 was returned to Deptford, but is due to transfer to Stanley tomorrow.

5411 had been used for familiarisation at Stanley in place of 5401 so that the latter could receive its final checks prior to entry into service, but has since returned to Saltmeadows where it will be branded prior to entering service itself.

I believe 5396 is now at the docks ready for shipping across to Stranraer.
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - May 2015
It had been said the coast & country buses were to enter service on sunday. However if stanley haven't got their full allocation, then a red spare will need to be used (from tuesday) The bus we've been using will need to go back to saltmeadows for branding, or will it be done at chester?

Just thought I'd ask as I not sure what I am doing on Tuesday as I am thinking of doing something different.

I like a bet, so odds on probably  Smile

I would sat that this is the most likely.

I hate to rain on anyone's parade here, but you're all going to have a good 15 years to get shots of these vehicles. They won't be out for a week, and then disappear never to be seen again... Tongue

I think it might be easier if they put them out on a Monday (or this week Tuesday), because I think Passengers will use them during the weekday rather than a Sunday

There is a Sunday in every week? Suppose if the vehicles do enter service on Sunday they will be able to cover up any issues since they can just replace it with another branded vehicle.

The weather forecast for Sunday is for significant rain from early morning to late afternoon so it seems unlikely that I will bother, however, Monday has only slight rain very early morning, so I might swap days.

Or if you follow the words of the Bible, Sunday is the last day with it being the day of rest.

It is and it isnt tbh.  First day for driver rota's is a Saturday, but first day for mileage recording is a Sunday.

The worrying thing about that is, if they cant get that right, how on earth are they going to run bus services in the entire of Tyne and Wear?

I'm not sure one individuals incompetence/lack of knowledge, is too much to worry about.
Pretty sure I won't have been the only person to have been given duff info by customer facing representatives of any of the incumbents.
