(27 Jul 2015, 10:30 am)Michael wrote Not sure if its being asked or not.... how will the Tynedale Links interwork with each other from next Mondays changes?

Well here is what I think will happen:

Venture Solo SR (Mon-Fri only, interworking with 689):
#687 1055 Corbridge to Hexham 1109
#687 1135 Hexham to Corbridge 1149
#687 1150 Corbridge to Hexham 1204
#682 1210 Hexham to Colwell 1246
#682 1246 Colwell to Hexham 1309

Tynedale Links MPD (interworking with the 14:04 arrival into Hexham):
#682 1410 Hexham to Colwell 1446
#682 1446 Colwell to Hexham 1509
#687 1635 Hexham to Corbridge 1649

This seems the most logical way, but not sure about Saturdays.

Cheers, its a long layover though!

Only one 687 will interwork with the 74 by the looks of it, it seems the rest will interwork with the 689 Monday-Friday.

Cheers Tom, forgot about the 689, not sure why that's just branded Tynedale Links, unless that's where the extra MPD is going (as the PVR is increasing by 1), that would seem more logical.

Thee 689 was once branded as Tynedale Links. No idea why it was rebranded as Venture.

I'm sure it's always been operated by Venture MPDs though?

Thanks Tom!

Not sure why its branded Venture either... it should be "Tynedale Links", if its interworking with 682 then why are advertising it as a "Tynedale Links" route when its going to be using a Venture Solo Sr! lol

Probably just so it doesn't confuse passengers as most 682 journeys will be Tynedale Links MPDs.

It does appear to have always been operated by Venture branded vehicles but however was marketed as a Tynedale Links service for a period of time. Possibly explains the transfer to Venture?

Hopefully, Dan needs to update the thread for this weeks changes, he'll probables do it after these changes happen, as there's still a few routes missing, of course when he gets the time to!

That's why interworking services with other brands doesn't work, still think it should be "Tynedale Links", hopefully that happens from next Monday.

I cannot understand why the 16:35 687 ends in Corbridge.
There are currently passengers that use the 687 from Corbridge (admittedly @ 17:06 rather than 16:49) to travel to Hexham after work finishes @ 5pm.
Some of these arrived in Corbridge from Hexham on the first run of the day (Corbridge 09:02)

And where does the 10:55 687 come from to start in Corbridge?

Looks like they've done a bit of brand shifting on the GNE website but i can't work out what has been added/removed.

I assume it is just a test and a more permanent one will be chosen at a later date?

We are trying something out with the Quaylink destinations so that the Next Stop Announcements automatically update the destination and drop off via points mid-route.

Leaving Gateshead, the display should show "Q1 Wrekenton" with the appropriate via points. The destination should then change itself just before Heworth to display "Q1 Newcastle/Central Station via", and then the destination should change again just before Gateshead to display "Q1 Central Station" (as per the old QuayLink Q1 service).

The Q2 and Q3 work similarly; however, we have had some problems with the system not updating the destinations automatically, which is why some drivers will be selecting the wrong destination.

As citaro5284 regularly says; you shouldn't assume, as it makes an ass out of u and me. Wink

I can't recall him voicing that phrase when we went to Workington. Although I do remember ''can I give you a piece of advice - shut up!''. Big Grin

Ah right i see. When i first read that i thought it would just be at each end ie auto change at the Newcastle end and auto change again at Gateshead (after the loop). Didn't realise it was planned to happen midroute too.

We are also looking into a link between the ticket machine and destination controller which automatically changes the destination based on the journey number the driver inputs into the ticket machine, removing the need for drivers to input a destination at all. This would achieve what you initially thought had been referred to previously.

The aforementioned changing of the destination mid-route and dropping off via points using the Next Stop Announcement system was more important. We could not show "Q1 Newcastle" on the destination leaving Gateshead for the first time around, as passengers would get on thinking they were in for a 10 minute journey over the Quayside before getting to Newcastle, when really, they had an Orbit around Gateshead to get through first. As such, the destination had to be split mid-route, so it made sense to trial this system which automatically changes the destination.

Nothing ever goes swimmingly (hope for the best but expect the worst is my motto), so it comes as no surprise that the system didn't work as it should, but Hanover have been working on the fix since 10:00am yesterday morning, when the driver of the bus I was on told me the destination hadn't changed automatically.

While Robert's interest in destinations is admirable (I can't wait until September when he gets to see the new St Bede's destinations), something of greater interest to the rest of you will be the arrival of pink Optare Solo SR 662 (NK15 GFO) at Saltmeadows Road, meaning that 10/14 vehicles have been delivered to date.
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015
Oo. Something to look forward to i guess. Will it just be the AM ones that get updated (which simply show the route number then Lanchester St Bede's) or are you going to torture me for five weeks? I know that outlining that service 825 doesnt stop at Stanley Bus Station would be a good thing for the general public who try to board the service.
