Go North East: 2015/16 Financial Year Order Predictions

Nothing has even been confirmed yet FFS! (Not you Tommy BTW, just the b***s****er who posted this on FB). Mind you, if GNE do go for the Streetdecks, they might save a few quid on the fuel and purchase costs but they'll be flat as a fart. Hope that GNE goes for the E400MMC though as it's a fantastic vehicle and they can get up to speed very quickly. The Cummins engine if setup correctly and well looked after is actually a good little workhorse.

Are GNE going to trial the Streetdeck on the X9 / X10 or is this just a typo?

After a month on "Pronto" service X21 at Crook, I believe that the StreetDeck will transfer to Riverside for evaluation purposes on "Tyne Tees Xpress" services X9/X10 (again, for a month).

Do you think the Go Ahead group are more keen on ordering the Streetdeck than the E400MMC?

The fact that there is a survey for the StreetDeck but not the Enviro 400MMC does make me think that we are far more likely to see GNE go for the StreetDeck. Admittedly the E400MMC was here for less time though.

Will be intresting to see how it fairs on the X9/X10 especially as I thought the biggest issue with it was it's performance on hills which isn't really an issue on the X9/X10.

It wouldn't be irrational to suggest that all bus operators would favour the StreetDeck over the ADL Enviro400MMC based on the fact that it delivers huge cost savings.

At the end of the day, bus operators will weigh up the pros and cons of buying either bus. There's got to be a solid business case surrounding any vehicle investment, so the bus operators will be sure to pick the most appropriate vehicle.

I thought it was going on trial to Percy Main to yest it against 6104.

It isn't now.

Citaro did hint that plans had changed when he said something like 'Plans may or may not have changed...'

The vehicle is fitted with a tachograph, so makes sense to trial it on one of the most demanding routes the company operates..!

You don't know how suitable the vehicle is going to be until you trial it.
RE: Go North East: 2015/16 Financial Year Order Predictions
I wonder if the likes of the E400MMC, Scania E400MMC and even the Volvo B5TL are going to be obsolete in years to come in the way that most of the single deck vehicles have become since the Streetlites were launched.

Could you imagine a Streetdeck tearing up and down the A19, down the North / East Yorkshire Coastline and along the winding and twisting roads of Northumberland on the Coast and Castles services?

No; bus operators cannot just 'imagine' what the performance will be like, and this is why demonstrator vehicles exist.

I'd imagine the X9/X10 may receive investment within the next two years as I don't think they'd want a repeat of the last days and months of the B7s suffering breakdowns somewhere along the route so I imagine trialing the StreetDeck will give them a chance to see how it copes for if they do decide to invest in new stock for this service in future.

My theory of the TTX receiving investment is down to the fact that GNE normally like to fully repaint their buses around every 5 years and how long the B7s were on the X10 then later the X9.

I am not going to give much of the way of an opinion on how I think it will perform on the TTX until I can sample it on the service and see how it actually performs rather than just sit on here and say it's going to be crap on the X9/X10, I'll give an opinion after riding it on the X9/X10 (providing they actually trial it on TTX).

That is the plan once it leaves Crook

Doubt it. It won't even be at Riverside yet!

At least the survey gave me chance to review my ride on it on the X21, including the painfully loud rattles and bangs!

It's not made for those sorts of long journeys, is it? It's made for routes such as the shorter 21 run.
RE: Go North East: 2015/16 Financial Year Order Predictions
Looking at the survey, what is the point in the 'comfort of seats' question based on the facts that they have moved to e-leather? If the results are good enough, would they consider going back to fabric seating like all new purchases up until and including 2013 (and the Streetdeck itself)?

Ok then, I'll rephrase it, if any new deckers are coming, are they going to have ZF or Voith gearboxes bearing in mind that ADL and Wrightbus offer both?
