Go North East: Service Suggestions

RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions
(30 Jul 2015, 3:48 pm)callum2015 wrote X35 Sunderland - East Herrington - Hetton Le Hole - Easington - Peterlee - Blackhall - Hartlepool
Now Runs Hourly, the other trip per hour replaced by revised X36 & new service X37,New PVR 7 (Interworks with X37),Sunday Service`s now run as X36

X36 Peterlee - Easington - South Hetton - Hetton Le Hole - East Herrington - Sunderland - Downhill - Boldon - Heworth - Gateshead - Newcastle (- Cobalt)
Extended to Peterlee to partly replace 1 X35 an Hour, then At Peak Times,Extended to Cobalt From Newcastle to replace X39.
Runs Hourly M-Sat with a new Hourly Sunday Service replacing Sunday X35 Service,New PVR 5

X37 Downhill - Sunderland - Seaham - Peterlee - Hartlepool
New Service replacing the short X36 between Downhill & Sunderland, then running Via X7 route to Peterlee & then To Hartlepool replacing 1 X35 an Hour,
Running Hourly M-Sat,PVR 7 (Interworks with X35)

The X35/6/7 Changes will mean
- Better Links to Cobalt, for what i think will be the first time a bus straight from Peterlee & Sunderland without having to Change
- Improved Sunday Service, with buses running straight from Peterlee to Newcastle
- Faster Hartlepool Services, plus now a Half Hour Fast Peterlee - Sunderland frequency (X7/X37)

I really like these changes, the link to the cobalt could have potential... not sure how many in those areas work at the cobalt.
Ooo Friend, Bus Friend.
RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions
Just re the Cobalt link, would it not be easier to do the following with further Peak Time Links.

X8 - Middlesbrough - Stockton - Peterlee - A19 - Tyne Tunnel - Cobalt Business Park - A191 - Longbenton Tyneview Park - Four Lane Ends - Quorum Business Park

Are there any business parks down Middlesbrough that you could include in your suggestion?

Might as well throw in Wynyard Business Park and Doxford Park while you're at it!

I'd hate to live in Middlesbrough and work at Quorum... without a car.  Big Grin

Not sure how many people who live in Peterlee would work at Quorum, it seems like it would be a fair distance to get to I would imagine.

That would be painful to commute to everyday in a car never mind the bus!
RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions
It's certainly not a journey I'd like to do everyday by bus. As noted, it'll take a good hour or so in the car without taking into consideration peak-time traffic. Imagine how long travelling by bus would take.

Apart from the Cobalt Link (Just keep X39 as it is) it's quite good merging the FastCats services could be good.
Cross City service for Sunderland too, I'm not sure how many people would be going anywhere on X36 route from Peterlee-Doxford, though?
Still good ideas though.

The 16 suggestion is basically the Arriva 50 route which operated a few years back and from what I saw the passenger numbers weren't great and the Arriva 87 Bishop Auckland - Willington (Wear Valley View?) was recently withdrawn due to low passenger numbers due to the more popular SB Travel 108/109 between Bishop Auckland and Willington. The Bishop Auckland - Wear Valley View service has ran in a few different forms over the last few years.

Not sure about the V10 suggestion, the OK1 carried pretty much fresh air between Bishop Auckland and Crook which is probably why that section got dropped for most journeys.

Can't use double deckers on daytime service 19 - there's a low bridge at Percy Main.

Double deckers aren't ever allocated to service 19 (other than the evening runs from Cobalt Business Park - which obviously miss the low bridge at Percy Main).

There are other workings in mornings that terminate at Percy Main Metro and Cobalt

Could have sworn I once got a 9 a few year ago up to North Shields on a decker that went through Percy Main...

The last one of the night terminates on the other side of the Tyne Tunnel and the result of a double decker being allocated to service 9 and the driver being in single decker auto pilot when returning to the depot...
