Cumbria & North Lancashire Bus Operations

RE: Cumbria & North Lancashire Bus Operations
Carlisle-based ADL E300 27142 SN64OGE now features a scrolling bottom line on the destination with 'Newcastle' displayed.

Seen this morning driving to work. Also seen 27142 this afternoon but that had 'Brampton for Carlisle' on, so not sure if that has changed or not.

RE: Cumbria & North Lancashire Bus Operations
Not sure its being mentioned but Stagecoach has appointed a new MD for its Cumbria and North Lancashire bus operations. Current Stagecoach North
East Operations Director, Matthew Cranwell, will take on the role of MD, Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire, from 1 September 2015.

Can I just say, if you are going to Carlisle. I strongly recommend getting a ticket to Whitehaven to ride the loco hauled
RE: Cumbria & North Lancashire Bus Operations
Carlisle City services are ran by the new Solos and a handful of E200s (and are supplemented with services out of the city.

Unless you do a Tesco move, Whitehaven is fairly unlogical. It'd be best to go to St Bees where services pass each other usually.

Just a tad late on this one...!

Pretty much anything can go on the short 685. Olympians, Tridents, Solos, Darts, E200s, you name it, it's probably been on it. Smile
Usually a Solo though. (Either the old type or the SR).

There are many reasons, e.g one is VOR.

Thanks, I (as I think you know) I like hard-ish seats so the 59-reg ones I am fine with, I just think it is mad

Mad that buses have to have inspections every few weeks? If one comes in late (which is very much possible being the long route it is) they'll have another ready to send out. Breakdowns too.

2 buses to cover a PVR of 2.

Apparently, according to a member of the Stagecoach Enthusiasts Facebook Group, Stagecoach Cumbria's Carlisle Depot has been evacuated due to flooding/the risk of flooding with the buses parked on nearby streets.

Proved to be a good decision as the depot is flooded worse than in 2005.

There is an image of several buses parked on the Bus Lane in Carlisle City Centre on "The Northern Road Transport Trust" Facebook Group.
I assume the flooding will still cause major disruption as they will have issues refuelling the vehicles, checking the vehicles, finding the vehicles and so on.
RE: Cumbria & North Lancashire Bus Operations
Buses in Cumbria were still suffering with closures and diversions prior to the latest storms.

Amongst several I saw:

The road joining the east of Staveley with the A591 is closed, meaning the 555 is forced to do a u-turn in the middle of the village.

Kendal has a bridge closure too, meaning diversions there.

When did Stagecoach in Cumbria's X4/X5 get upgraded to Stagecoach gold?

Anyone know what happened to the coaches.
