I'm led to believe that some (if not all) of the Red Kite Volvo B9TLs will be allocated to service X27 later this afternoon; as such, this will lead to a few wrong allocations on the "Toon Link" and "Red Kite" services today (these include Saltwell Park 8346 and red spares 4964/5389).

6087, 6096 and 6089 were also allocated to the R1.

Haha! After seeing this photo on flickr i instantly made love with them. That crusader one is the most impressive imo - the 'the' being sideways like the actual logo probably does it for me Smile The other 2 are good like. I'm guessing you have done this for every brand?

Bit worried about you if you're making love with a photo of some buses, mind! Not every brand is done yet as it takes a fair bit of playing around. Some are clearly a lot better than others, but you are fairly limited...

angel, Blaydon Racers, Citylink, Connections4, The Crusader, indiGo, Quaylink, Red Arrows, TEN, The OK Way, The Red Kite, ToonLink and X66 all done so far. Suppose they'll all make an appearance at bus rallies in the future, haha.

How much 'playing around'? Is it a case of you have to insert it as an image or just type it like normal using a the correct font?

Looks great. I particularly like the Blaydon Racers one.

You're going to have to grab a photo of them on the white LED destinations now, because I'm curious as to what will look better. Tongue

That was just to get them to South Shields for the X27 - better than running light. Happens every year (except usually with Scania L94s).

You do now! Wink

It makes sense really, as a lot of people see how packed the Metros are and try and find an alternative means of transport. This was even more of a problem today due to the issues with the Metro.

The traffic in South Shields often means that buses get stuck at that end too, and there's very little scope to get things moving from the other end.

3967 was an additional bus brought from Newcastle on the morning by a supervisor to keep things moving when buses were stuck at South Shields. Further double decks (not noted in your post) were sourced for the afternoon journeys, too.

The two Mercs were used on the X27, and as I said before, were only allocated to the R1 from Newcastle to South Shields to prevent the need to go light instead.

Canny few posts on Facebook about the 78/78A going AWOL today. Any idea what was affecting it, as you wouldn't have thought it was in a GNR hot spot?

The match would have resulted in delays today - always seems to affect services which don't go anywhere near the Stadium, and I can only put it down to higher-than-usual loadings.

Obviously doesn't account for buses going missing completely!

Think you can often get traffic around where buses enter Park Lane, although it's many moons since I was last in Sunderland on a match day, although I have been to gigs at the Stadium of Light.

Saw/heard a handful between 1400 and 1500 - definitely not operating at their scheduled intervals.

Volvo B10BLE 4843 has been withdrawn from service at Riverside.

Volvo B7TL 3967 and Volvo B10BLE 4916 at Riverside have gained front LED destinations (thus meaning that the former has a complete set of LEDs - the latter still retains flipdot side/rear).

Well it's definitely parked up with the rest of the withdrawn B10s at Riverside..! Until they remove parts from it, I suppose it can remain as a last resort reserve.
