RE: Weardale
As with many buses on school services seats get damaged by kids and have to be reupholstered with whatever you can get - the original fabric may not be available some years after bus was built. Also, sometimes extra seats are put in, eg when removing centre door from a dual door vehicle.

Not sure if Weardale have bought Solo YJ64 DWD but it was on a school run in Witton Le Wear this afternoon or just on demo to them.

Saw it in Durham on the 52, this afternoon - though it's not like you can miss it! Bit bright, it is.

Was D6 WMS for sale with Plaxtons as i think another Coach as arrived and was wondering if they had traded the Solo in part ex.Does anyone know when the new Irizar is getting put on the road i am thinking March when the new reg is out s it has been parked at Johnson Bros tours since last year.
RE: Weardale
I believe Bova BT08LCT was traded in at Plaxtons but was swiftly sold on. I Think D6WMS was being advertised by a dealer. I am assuming another bus has replaced it as they still have a few routes and Solo M6WMS was putting in an apearance on service 52 before christmas.

Any idea which dealer was selling it i would have thought that one of the older Solos would be traded in as D6 WMS is a 2007 where as M6WMS is a 2000 model.

This is the link to the page it is advertised on. It was the smallest solo Weardale owned so maybe they needed something bigger, hence why M6WMS has been retained.

Looks like they're having a bit of a clear out as there's at least 4 vehicles up for sale in RouteOne this week.
RE: Weardale
Three Vanhools the two 13 reg ones and the 08 former Leons Vanhool i wonder if in March when the new plates are issued some new front line touring Coaches are arriving.

Hi John that will be the one that has been stored at Johnson Bros since last summer i also have not seen the two 13 reg Vanhools in the yard at Crook recently so i wonder if maybe several 16 reg Coaches are going to enter the fleet in the near future and i think maybe the 08 former leons Scania/Vanhool has left the fleet.

Possibly another i6 for them, as there was a photo of one being built for Weardale in Coach & Bus Week in January.

Maybe the two 13 reg Vanhools are being replaced by two Scaina Irizars around Summer 2007 they had a Irizar PB in the fleet for several months and have a Irizar Century for school work.
RE: Weardale
Just seen a picture of the 16 plate Irizar but i am positive the other night i saw a 65 plate Weardale Coach going back to the Depot at Crook so i wonder if they have been getting two Irizars as one had been stored at Johnsons since last year.

These days thats all they seem to use and odd times a Decker where as once over not that long ago i have seen high spec Coaches such as Neoplans Bovas and Iveco/Belarus/Plaxton used all the time the main Coach for a long time on the X21 was the DAF/ikararus.
RE: Weardale
On Wednesdays in school terms the X21 is worked by an ALX400 off Consett depot having first done a Nexus school then gone light to Stanhope. It then does a pm Nexus, back to Stanhope on the X21 then LT to Consett. School hols it starts from Stanhope, but this week was an ALX, not a coach. Saturdays, when there's three runs, is often an MAN Meridian, although it's sometimes a coach, can be a 70 seater (T66 WMS used to do it quite regularly), and, if few passengers to come back at 1730, the final run could be a Solo.
