Due to the service changes this weekend and the lower PVR at Riverside Depot with the loss of service 11, Scania L94 4964 has transferred from Riverside Depot to Percy Main, providing the depot with a dedicated spare Scania L94 for the new Blue Arrow 11 service.
Scania L94s 4930 and 4931 have also transferred to Riverside Depot following the earlier arrival of 5216 and 5217 at Chester-le-Street.
As for the others...
Go North East is operating a large number of additional contracts today - over 50 buses worth of work in total. As such, there have been a number of temporary re-allocations to accommodate for a higher number of vehicles being required at some locations.
Metro Replacement
Go North East has been awarded with the Metro Replacement blockade contract, which commences today. Scania OmniDekkas 6136, 6137, 6138, 6139 and 6140 have entered service at Stanley Depot and have temporarily released Volvo B7TLs 6009, 6012, 6013, 6014 and 6016 to Riverside for use on this contract. The remaining four buses to be allocated will come from Riverside's dual-door Volvo B7TL allocation.
Cruise Ships
Go North East will be operating a special shuttle service for the cruise ships today. Percy Main will provide three single-decks from their own fleet for this contract, and will also use MPD 556 and Scania L94 5220 from Riverside which have temporarily transferred to Percy Main.
Sunderland Airshow
39 buses in total will be used on Sunderland Airshow A1/A2 and Park & Ride services. These buses will come from various depots:
- Riverside - 10
- Stanley - 7
- Chester-le-Street - 7
- Percy Main - 2
Deptford has transferred Scania L94 4936 to Chester-le-Street Depot, allowing the Volvo B7TL usually allocated to services 14/X22 today to be used on Sunderland Airshow work. Likewise, Riverside has transferred Scania L94 5221 to Washington Depot for the same purpose.
There are currently five extra Volvo B10BLEs in the fleet: 4907, 4923, 4925, 5167 and 5170. These have all transferred to Deptford Depot for use on a new Sunderland Airshow contract from Civic Centre to the Airshow. Of these, 4907, 4923, 4925 and 5167 will be transferred to Riverside Depot after this weekend to be used alongside other Volvo B10BLEs which would have been withdrawn as a result of this weekend's service changes (withdrawal of service 11). They will be temporarily retained, allowing the Volvo B7TLs which would ordinarily be allocated to Nexus Misc Works to be allocated to Metro Replacement.
Also worth mentioning that the Kynren Shuttle Services are in operation again tonight. Chester-le-Street, Crook and Stanley will all provide buses for this - running off normal daytime service work.
Hope this clarifies a few things! I will get round to updating the fleet lists/news at some point.
