(04 Nov 2013, 6:57 pm)Adam Malarkey wrote It's a good idea and I like the Brand Names you have came up with Gary as way better and have more meaning than "FAB56", but does anyone see GNE ordering 34 Silver Gemini 2's, Unless the Cobalt Clipper Brand is Half Silver/Half Blue to make it stand out more.

Well I don't see them ordering 34 silver ones, that's for sure.

I guess it's always possible that they'll go for four red ones - two spares for both the Fab56 and Cobalt, similar to the Citylink order as discussed here..!
theOne has even drawn up a nice little red B9 for us on our Paper Buses thread.
RE: Go North East - Latest
I wouldn't be surprised to see the new 56 brand looking something like the Citylink/Tynedale Xpress. I think with those two, and the Coaster/Drifter, it could be the start of having a uniform design across multiple services. I do like the suggestions Gary had came up with though.

As long as they drop the word 'Fab' really. I don't think anyone has used it since the 80s?

How about something to do with the Rivers Wear and Tyne...Two Rivers Links...

Did there used to be a service called Two Rivers Express back in the Go-Ahead Northern and Wear Buses/VFM days????

Two Cities Express was ran by VFM - X23 I think was its number.

Most people I know just like to refer to the 56 as 'The Not so Fab 56' so I'm thinking GNE may drop this brand but at the end of the day how many people really refer to their bus service by name? Whereas some do say the fab 56 as it rolls of the tongue more than the Prince Bishops or the Centurion.

I'm one to refer to the 56 as "The Fab56". I refer to very few as their brand name, but that one seems to work.
Same as the 21... I always call it "The Angel" - it works for me.

Why would GNE want to scrap something when it works like that?

Arriva had the 'Three Rivers Express' when the X1 ran from Newcastle to Middlesbrough.

I agree. 'The Angel' and 'The Fab56' are the ones I hear the most.

Or the 'TEN' surely? Wink I do see what you mean though, as I tend to refer to the 21 as 'The Angel' rather than it's number.

Have to agree with you there.

Has anyone seen The Angel?
Been stood at Harlow Green for 45minutes!

Where are all the Fab56's? 6 have gone past me in the other direction at Sulgrave village centre and I have been here since 7.02 this morning.
I was due at work 3 hours ago!

I feel that the "Fab" brand is rather tired now.

Anyway, the vehicles will all be delivered in one colour.

If you look at it, every batch of vehicles that GNE have gotten over the last few years have came in the same colour.

Examples:
Citylink / Laser Citaros were delivered all gold.

Silver Arrows / Ten Citaros were all one batch of Silver.

And before anyone pipes up about the Streetlites been different colours, they are classed as 2 different batches due to their length.

The only exceptions are the Solo SRs due to contract reasons.

Mind I predict the Solos will arrive in Yellow if they are keeping the Venture brand.

Am I right in thinking that in previous orders, the number of vehicles purchased matched the PVR of the service the vehicles had been bought for. I may be wrong, but isn't the PVR 15 for the 'Fab56' and 17 have been ordered?

Although I call it the Angel on here, whenever I use it or discuss it with friends or colleagues its always the 21. I never use Angel outside the enthusiast community.

It's like the X66....prime candidate for cheesy Route 66 branding (including link up with American chain restaurants in MC)

I thought that the fab 56 uses 16 vehicles daily however the timetable could be run on 15 vehicles but an extra is slotted in to assist reliability.

Where's the info on the extra 20s Durham-Houghton? Can only see something about bigger buses being used?

Go North East have been awarded the contract to run the P&R from New College for the 4 nights - will use up to 7 buses each night. Sunday 17th will be a busy day as there is also Metro replacement in the morning.

Cheers - see it now. It's not mentioned under the 20 blurb and the link under that bit takes you to the normal Prince Bishops page...GNE could make it a bit clearer (I'm sure I'm not the only one who would scroll down to their service rather than notice the link at the top?)!

I agree it's confusing. No mention of extra services,

Just a thought :-

Yellow and white with a thin blue band, and call them 'Tyne & Wear Transport'

Sacre bleu!

Are you seriously suggesting GNEs slap dash error strewn website is not user friendly?!

The link should have read

SEE ALL DETAILS OF EXTRA BUSES HERE

But that's too simple
