Marketing ploy or a very good way of engaging with local customers?

It's nice to see a long term strategy being produced, and it'll be interesting to see what it means for Harrogate.

An update on the Transdev Harrogate Masterplan has appeared in Route One today.

Coastliner Volvo B5TL Wright Gemini 3 3635 (BT66 MVU) has been named 'The Spirit of Tadcaster' at an event in Tadcaster today. It follows the reopening of the bridge into Tadcaster which was wiped out by floods. The 'Tadfaster' service has been withdrawn as a result.

Yes City of York Council has awarded the new tender to Connexions. I think they take over some time in April.
RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations
It should be noted that the 16 will operate every 45 minutes compared to the 44's every 30 minutes - as it will extend further into the City Centre to Piccadilly whereas the 44 terminates at the Railway Station.

Think I heard somewhere that they'll be using a new Optare Solo SR on the contract? Uncertain on that.

Yes I believe they have ordered a new Solo SR. Sure they mentioned it on their Twitter.

Infrastructure

Proposals have been discovered for a revised exit layover at Leeds City Bus Station - which would improve reliability on services that currently head south out of the city (as well as the Megabus services) plus introduce a separate entrance to the Coach Station side removing the need for coaches to operate through the bus side.

They are not having much luck with regards to fire it would seem. Such a shame.

And EYMS confirmed a few weeks ago on their twitter that these 12 buses will be fitted with tables for a long distance route. 'long distance route' could suggest that they will be split between Scarborough and Hull for service 121.

A new 'float vehicle' livery is to be rolled out across the fleet to replace the current 'Ghost' White livery. First to be treated is 2764 (PO55 PYL), with Coastliner B9TL 421 (BD11 CEA) said to be in the paint shop receiving the livery as well

Very nice indeed - shame they couldn't get any ready for the start of the season (7th April) but a lot of work needed doing apparently.

A few updates from recent events in West Yorkshire.

M Travel Dennis Trident LV52HHN by Mark  Smith, on Flickr

M Travel, Pontefract have closed as of Saturday with their operators licence revoked by DVSA and the majority of services picked up by other operators. The interesting part is that a new operator named 'Stanley Gath' have started up to cover the commercial services and some of the school contracts, with others to be picked up by CT Plus, Poppletons, Squarepeg, Watersons. Tendered bus services 30/39 and 49 will be operated by CT Plus from tomorrow.

Stanley Gath is to be run by former Tates Travel director Graham Mallinson, who moves back into bus operations alongside the deceased M Travel's daughter who has also joined the operation. Amazing that they've managed to set up a new operator who can take over immediately.... Dare I say the fleet will consist of mainly ex M Travel vehicles ?!

Connexions Buses have added some former Stagecoach Volvo B7TL's to their fleet, namely 16921-3 (SP51AWV/W/X) to be used on service X52 between Ilkley and Harrogate. Competitive service X1c between Harrogate & Knaresborough has been withdrawn, leaving the 15 minutely X1 to compete with the Transdev offering along the same corridor.

Transdev Harrogate

One I failed to mention, a batch of 8 Volvo B7TL/Plaxton Presidents have been purchased from National Express' West Midlands and Xplore Dundee operation. The first has entered service on York Race Shuttle 197 yesterday in the form of 2720 (V69 MOA) - formerly 4069 with National Express (Photo @ Driffbus)

The rest of the batch are:
Transdev Fleet No. (Nat Exp Fleet No): Reg
2719 (4034): V34MOA
2721 (4074): V74MOA
2722 (4118): W118DOP
2723 (4119): W119DOP
2724 (4120): W412DOE
2725 (4078): V78MOA
2726 (4084): V84MOA

So far, reports on the West Yorkshire Information Service Fleet list suggests 2724 has followed B7TL/Gemini 404 into Vamooz livery (see below)

Yes, there was doubt when 887 and 888 arrived that both would be allocated to Scarborough as the Skipper only requires 1 bus.

A rather unexpected addition at York Pullman is Volvo B8RLE BV17CPU from dealer stock, expected to be used on contracted service 36 which links York, Elvington & Sutton-upon-Derwent

Also added to the fleet are 15 ex Go Ahead London Volvo B7TL Gemini's for school work. They are currently in London red, although 4 of them have been smartened up with a skirt repaint and thrown out on the 197 Race shuttles recently.
