Is there a reason why non of the withdrawn 03/53 plate MANs have been disposed of yet - some of which have been withdrawn for a year.

Three people to take a photo?!

(07 Aug 2017, 7:06 pm)Dans_bus_photos wrote Surely they could have got rid of some of them though, even at the low price as opposed to having around 30 buses just sitting in storage waiting to be scrapped. They seemed to get rid of 22214/5 and 22673 quick enough though

They weren't DDA were they. No reason why the newer ones should go for scrap if they are intact.

They might be intact but since they haven't even sold 1 since they were withdrawn is making me think no one is interested in them. They cant just leave them standing around forever just because they don't want to scrap them

Book Value comes into effect. With Scarp value at a low price at present, it's no good selling vehicles that have a value of £20k still for just £1k (or less). The likely reason why 22214/5/673 departed so soon is that they will have had little or no book value therefore they would actually have seen the company earn something for their sale.

Arriva do a pretty good job of it! The MPDs at Redcar have been there for 3-4 years!

Poor planning by Stagecoach, then? If a batch of buses had such a high book value, the company should not have planned to replace them, especially if there was little chance of them being sold on for further use or transferred elsewhere within the group.

It won't be keeping the company's accountants happy either way - making a loss on a bus when selling it due to it having such a high book value, or a revenue-earning asset sat dormant in the corner of a depot depreciating.

It's doesn't seem to be the most efficient way for Stagecoach to do things.

But considering 'Sir' Souter and his sister own 55% of ADL, and its their products Stagecoach are buying, it may be part of a bigger play of how Barry (I think he'd hate that nickname  Big Grin ) moves his money around.

If Souter inflates Stagecoach's new vehicle order to boost ADL's profits, he could have a double win by reducing the profit, on paper, Stagecoach makes - therefore paying less tax. The accountants don't mind as all the money is still there, just in the form of MANs rather than tax bills.....just a theory.

Surprised this hasn't been noted yet. 22509 is now back out in service at Slatyford - bring the number of Kinetics in use to 6:

22508
22509
22510
22512
22513
22514

22515 is VOR with engine issues. And 15 months on, 22511 is still waiting to be prepared for service.

Might as well scrap it.

I have only seen 22509 and 22514 recently, the other kinetics I haven't seen in use. I am sure it's only 22509 and 22514 in service from what I have seen.

22510/2 were both out yesterday - along with 22509 on the 10/11.

22515 has moved (been dragged?) from the rear fence so at last may be receiving attention.  22511 meanwhile appears to have had parts removed.  22574 has been withdrawn (again) - been at the back of the depot for a while but no ticket machine installed now so presumably knackered again.
RE: Stagecoach North East: Latest News & Discussion - August 2017
Fair to say Slatyford need a fleet overhaul in the not too distance future even the 54 plate MANs aren't ideal

If you are asking when Stockton's examples are getting withdrawn - the answer is, when they get something to replace them from somewhere. Given Stockton's PVR will be unchanged following Sunday's changes, there's no scope to see them removed from service then.

It has been rumoured amongst drivers that the Economics are moving operations to Sunderland depot and recieving new E400MMCS. Could this allow the E300s to transfer to Stockton to see of the remaining ALX300S.

Talking of the Economics, all of the E300s that I saw today had the 'Get there with E's' part of the branding removed.

No E400MMCs on order for the North East this year.
RE: Stagecoach North East: Latest News & Discussion - August 2017
I'd eat my hat if the economic services were switched to Sunderland operations. A lot of time and money would need to be spent route learning wheatsheaf drivers etc and not a great deal to be gained from it. South Shields getting new mmcs is more plausible in future though.
RE: Stagecoach North East: Latest News & Discussion - August 2017
Would by any chance has anyone in the Teesdale area seen 22061?
If so which route?
Thanks

RE: Stagecoach North East: Latest News & Discussion - August 2017
36961/4/5/7/73 seem to have all received partial repaints to tidy them up, although above the windows and the back hasn't been touched meaning they still retain their SUNderland branding.

Teesside? Since when? Sure I've seen it not long ago. Most likely on 10/11 or 13.
