Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - October 2017

But yes; for the reason you state, moving away from that placement on an OmniCity, and going back to the standard placement for consistency with other buses in the fleet (even if the size will be inconsistent!)

I certainly can't complain about consistency. It's one of the reasons why I go on about the feature symbols and taglines so much, along with Arriva's inability to brand buses in the same style (particularly MAX)!

Bus caught fire on the A1 earlier - 6305 I am told.

"A1 Western Bypass, southbound delays between J64 - J63 Chester le St due to a Bus on fire in the hard shoulder Police are travelling."

I would like to think it was branded in a Cathedral bus livery.
Whether it does or not, is another thing.

No idea what the duration of the contract is. The length of it may be a factor in a repaint or not.

The contract will last for 5 years.

It's a shame that the buses no longer seem to be branded for the service. Something for the council to think about in the future?

635 was used as the spare for Winlaton Shuttle Bus - this has now finished, and it has hence been released for cascade to Peterlee.
636 has been used on the 680S Brunton Crossroads shuttle bus - whilst this is still ongoing, it will be replaced in the fleet at Hexham temporarily by a demonstrator minibus, which should arrive early this week.

This releases 707 and 708 to join 706 at Stanley - as noted before, two of these to be allocated to Cathedral Bus, and the other to Tesco Free Bus. Doesn't really matter which one is allocated to which.

Personal opinion :-

635 & 636 would be better at Riverside, with one on ASDA bus, allowing 559 to Peterlee for 168, and one on 13, allowing 709 to Stanley as spare.
I would also send 626 to Deptford in exchange for 639.  This would give Riverside 633-639.

633 29
634 516
635 13
636 ASDA
637 33
638 33
639 spare

Also
with 5201/02 being released from CLS, they would be better at Percy Main, as they have 5203 and are euro 4.  4954/55 could go to Riverside. I would also swop 5210 (euro 4) with 5217 (euro 5), so Riverside have New livery scania as euro 5 and plain red as euro 4.

About the right place for it, IMO Big Grin The best bit about it is my MIL.

The contract is for 4 years, and at the discretion of the council, they can extend it by a further year (but don't have to). Chances are in four years time, there'll be something new out by then (Euro 7? Or some sort of new greener alternative to diesel) and it'll be in the interests of the council to have buses to this specification instead.

The contract specifies that the Cathedral Bus must be operated by buses in a livery specified by the council - as of yet, I believe the council has not provided a livery design to Go North East for them to use.

Wasn't a fire, it was just boiling over.

Anyone know what 5328, 5329 is allocated today?  (that's if 5328's defects got fixed quickly)

Both are VOR with defects.  5328 is at Saltmeadows Road for its defects.
